    It's not a sport..

It's more like an event, like a concert..

Sports actually have rules and competitive matchups

      Bingo.

I guess what bothers me is boxing masquerades as a sport. I want it to be a sport, with the spectacle of a Super Bowl for its biggest events.

        So do I...

I wish so bad for a single real central or major organization similar to ufc, NFL, wwe, NBA, etc..

Boxing is such a great sport if done properly

Alas. What's impressive is that even with all faults, boxing manages to stay relevant. If boxing were handled correctly, we'd probably see a return to the glory days.

Yeah, it's 2 guys fist fighting, it will never go out of style.. They just need to make good fights, and most important, fights that have consequences.. Case in point- Santa cruz has his career biggest win, and it leads to nowhere. Danny Garcia gets a huge win vs lucas and follows it up with years of tuneups or catchweights. I have seen Golovkin be the #1 threat at middleweight for years and over multiple champs yet can't get to fight them.. Just so many missed opportunities

Well put... It would have taken me at least a paragraph to get that point across and you did it in a sentence.

We can go on and on about specific fights and fighters. But you're right, fighting appeals to our base instincts. That's why MMA has found a following, even in the face of boxing. The right boxer can make hundreds of millions in this day and age. The management of most boxers will deprive fans of good match-ups in an attempt to squeeze the most from their fighters. Unfortunately, it doesn't usually mean much more cash in the athletes' pockets. There really isn't that much money to go around. Less than 1% of all fighters bring home the real money. Everyone else is like the gambler at the casino: dreams of making it big and trying their damnedest, but likely to leave broke, not rich.

A lot of guys seem to agree, it's sports entertainment. I lean towards that judgement as well. Kind of makes an appreciation of the "sport" an exercise in mental ************. Lol

All boxing needs is Mick Foley's (Dude Love, Mankind) Hardcore Title than itll truly be sports entertainment.
