Ward asking to meet him half way between divisions for a big fight...would you have had an issue with it?

We know Ward is just moving up now but what would be the response here if he wanted the fight but halfway between divisions for both guys...

If they're fighting for a title, yes.

    I'd still watch it, though.

Kovalev isn't fighting at 172. At least not for Andre Ward.

If he's okay with fighting Sullivan at 175 but not Kovalev at 175, that would be a scared-guy move. Since it's not for a title though, some fans would be okay even if Ward asks to meet halfway, cause their fave fighter would do the same. So they wouldn't want to look like hypocrites. They would grit their teeths behind their pc screen while typing 'it's okay'.

No. He's not campaigning at 168. He's a light-heavyweight. Just fight at the divisional limit. Catchweights should never be used in that way.

Kovalev isn't having the problems he used to making 175, but he's still a big LHW who very likely could not make 172 healthy, and I'm sure he knows that.

Now that he has moved up, Ward cannot do something as b*tch made as asking for a catchweight.

definitely wouldn't like it. not sure if kovalev can make the weight and still be healthy. you have to seriously doubt he can drop 3 lbs and still be at 100%.

I don't see why he would ask for those terms. He has made the move to light heavyweight now so he should be able to make weight if the two should meet.

In 2007 Andre ward said he walked around at 180 pounds, so I am guessing now he has to be at least in the 190s walking around.

Andre Ward is listed at 6 foot 1

Why would Ward need a catchweight when he is not a small guy?
