  • Mitchell, so are you or are you not saying $100 million is too high? You seem to be talking out of both sides of your mouth. Why deny that you said it's too high when you clearly did? Very strange.

    • Hahahaha look at poor Duncey, *STILL* insisting that Thurman vs Porter is not a PBC event even though it's been explained OVER AND OVER AND OVER that he's wrong, that Rafael was wrong and that Rafael has admitted he was wrong.

Then he quotes the OLD, WRONG Rafael report as his "proof" . . .

      Unreal.

The problem with that is the UFC's #1 outlet is PPV, not network television.

Yes they are lying....according to the official press release last week that made no mention of PBC and featured direct quotes from the head of showtime sports saying this will be branded showtime on CBS and they are producing the fight not PBC.

          http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id...-face-march-12

"Although Thurman and Porter have had their recent fights on Premier Boxing Champions cards, which their adviser, Al Haymon, has bought time for on a variety of networks, including CBS, this fight will not carry PBC branding. Instead, it will be branded as "Showtime Championship Boxing on CBS." CBS is the parent company of Showtime, which will produce the telecast."

Showtime Sports vice president and general manager Stephen Espinoza said. "Fights of this caliber don't come along very often, and when they do, they deserve to be on the biggest stage possible. That's why all of us at Showtime and CBS are so excited to be able to deliver this pivotal matchup to a prime-time audience on America's highest-rated network."

Sorry i will take the word of the head of showtime who is paying for the production over anything on that pbc website. Money is apparently tight at PBC right now they have blown almost all their investors money likely can't even afford to update the info on their website such a shame.
In your haste to prove your point, you continue to embellish. CBS producing the event means nothing since...NBC and Fox produce the PBC events too.

Second, when CBS first announced their foray into PBC, they specifically said they would look to cross promote Showtime Championship Boxing on the network. I can provide a link if you like.

Third, March 12th was promoted as a PBC card on Garcia-Guerrero, was announced as a PBC card on the release (see above) and carries the PBC logo on every flier.

So basically you're interpreting what is a major coup for PBC (a network buying the fight) as a fail. Going to be a long, painful year for you

I'm saying the $100 million probably isn't very instructive when speculating on what kind of deal the UFC will get for it's next contract, much less what the PBC will get.

And yet people love to cite it.

If that's what Haymon wanted why create pbc? Could of just sold the fight to showtime like he did before PBC. Instead he paid millions to CBS for the air time to buid the PBC brand and then couldn't pay the fighters so showtime has to and because of it it's now showtime on CBS brand fight and not PBC brand. This is a plan B domino effect of the hundreds of millions PBC lost in 2015 and not some master plan great move by haymon. If this was his plan why buy the air time last year and why announce this as a PBC fight last year and up until last week's press release never a mention of showtime involvement? You spin doctors in full damage control mode. But it takes a special kind of dumb to tell people it's good for PBC and it's brand that they pay for air time for a fight that will be labeled and branded Showtime on CBS.

Is CBS/Showtime buying the entire fight?

And so what is a network supposed to do, have a whimsical fantasy about fights that aren't available to them?

Or would you compare what UFC is doing on FOX to what PBC is doing on the networks?

What Duncey was trying to do was compare UFC on Spike, when Spike was UFC's biggest outlet, to what PBC was doing on Spike, when Spike was PBC's #5 or 6 outlet.

                    It made no sense.

And while PPV may be UFC's most profitable television vehicle, in terms of viewership, it's not their biggest platform and we were comparing number of viewers.

What UFC does on PPV is irrelevant to FOX or any future home.

But cong**** on trying to be the contrarian. It's just too bad you had to try to derail the thread in the process.

Or are you still having trouble figuring out why you said $100 million is too high, only to then deny, only to then confirm it again?

                    • I don't need to make anything up the head of showtime said it and in the press release there was only mention of showtime on CBS no pbc. Any crap on their website or logo is outdated since prior to last week this was NEVER a showtime fight. Since last year it was told by PBC this was PBC fight. But clearly that is not true and likely a result of them not being able to afford it which oddly comes the exact time that reports came out that investors are almost out of money so they brought in showtime last minute to pay for this. What hard to understand about that? You bringing up outdated website from a company that is in major Flux due to losing hundreds of millions. I bring to you ESPN links that include quotes directly from the man himself telling you this is a showtime produced fight not pbc produced. The official press release makes no mention of this being a pbc fight and specifically mentions it's branded Showtime On CBS. And don't lie and say this was always the plan because for 6 months haymon said otherwise and sold this to the public as a PBC brand fight.
