DSG gets hated but the kid is a winner, fights tough comp and poised

Garcia is not a spectacular fighter....he has no special effects

He is one of those guys that can fly under the radar because he isn't a speed demon like Khan, a puncher like Thurman, or physically as strong as say Porter but he is a complete fighter and finds a way to win

People are upset about Garcia fighting Guerrero for the vacant title, but lets be real, there have been a lot worse match ups for vacant titles and both fighters are proven in their careers, regardless of high organizations rank them.

Garcia was the man at 140 and its not like this is the first time that a fighter who was champion from a lower division got a shot early on at the higher weight.

Where was all the backlash when Pacquaio (who was never ranked at 154) fought Margarito (was never ranked at 154) for a junior middleweight title of a catchweight of 150?

Garcia is a top ten welterweight, he has proven it now, Guerrero is no push over and he himself was a top ten ww but one loss in a divison that deep will have you get dropped.

Garcia isn't even 30 yet and has an extensive resume and it craps on a lot of beloved fighters resume. I'm not even going to name names, but you know who they are

Garcia deserves a little more love, respect from some people because the kid, no matter what you say about him, will fight the best and finds a way to win whether its pretty or not

I like that him and his Dad embrace the hate, they're becoming very rich off of it. He has a phenomenal Resume for a 27 year old fighter (Regardless if some of those wins was controversial)

Garcia Resume>Most of the guys people on this forum hypes up daily

If you listened to people on these boards you'd think Garcia fights nothing but Salka types. If he was on Top Rank, they'd consider him a God.

It was a good win no doubt and well deserved title because like you have stated, others have gotten titles for much less. The problem I have with Garica though is he barely does enough, just like Canelo, they both get rewarded for barely getting the job done.

Garcia is even a nice guy, family dude, etc.

You know the excuse is usually the fighters personal life, attitude or personality of why the fighter receives hate

Angel got swag.....that ring walk gif is classic....number 1 with the lil ditty bop had me rolling

I think people are upset that he killed the hype behind their favorite fighters....Khan, Peterson, Matthyssee, beating legend morales didn't help the way he violently ko him

He's a good fighter but several "wins" on his record were ugly.

I had him beating Peterson by 1 point but he should have dominated if he was that good

I had Herrera beating him as did most observers.

He beat Matthysse legit (great win) although he was mighty lucky to get a mouthpiece time out when Lucas whacked him right in the chops

Khan made him look awful until Khan acted like pre-Virgil Hunter Khan and fought recklessly, and allowed himself to get caught with a desperation eyes-closed counter from a bloodied Garcia. Most people even if they hate Khan's guts would, if forced to bet, would go with Khan in a rematch I think.

Shot Morales (first fight) and semi-shot Judah gave him a run for his money down the stretch when Garcia should have erased them both if he was that talented.

He should have drawn with Ashley Theophane.

I'm not saying he's not a good fighter who doesn't get the job done, I'm just saying that of all the fighters in boxing who are undefeated, he is BY FAR THE LUCKIEST OF THEM ALL to be undefeated

a win is a win, whether it be by an inch or a mile. a round or a knockdown.

The kid knows how to win and has shown the ability to adjust.

Some may call it fighting down to your opponents level but he is doing something right and I cant find one fight that he won that was so called controversial where I scored it for the other guy. I scored them a few times and if he did lose I gave the opponent the swing rounds and he only lost by a point or 2....far from robbery....wanna see a robbery, go watch Emmanuel burton vs Emmanuel augustus

lucky????because he is facing stiff competition?

He arguably has fought the best competition out of all the undefeated fighters in boxing

put it this way, if GGG fought the type of opposition Garcia has over 2 weight classes, he would have some close fights as well

this kid is 27 has like the same amount of fights as GGG and was a lineal champion, unified belts, just won a major title in another division and holds wins over 8 current/former titleholders to GGG's 3.....Trust me if GGG had to fight guys like Matthyssee, Judah, Herrera, Khan, Morales back to back like this kid, we wouldn't be hearing all this hype.....Garcia is one of the most proven young fighters in the sport

                  Level of competition affects performances

I like him, but let's be real on some things.

                    At 147 he's done nothing.

Arguably lost to Herrera. Arguably draw or lost to Peterson. Fought an unranked 135 that he took to a WW catchweight. W T F !!
Guerrero? come on he's so shot, and he sucks. I forgot Malignaggi... another WTF!!!

It's clear why people lost respect for him. It will be three years ago since his last good win (against Matthysse) soon. He's like Ward. The only difference is that he fought more often.

Lately he's done **** and that's why he deserves **** too.

Khan and Matthysse, excelent wins. I used to like him. But lately he's doing ****.

We can discuss about the Herrera and Peterson fights, and in the Peterson fight it's clear that he took most of the first six rounds, but by one punch or two punches because they were very few action rounds. But then in the last six he was outlanded and dominated badly, ending with the face full of marks, yet he got the win.

                    Same in the Herrera fight.
