Why does such a small island like Puerto Rican give Mexico such hardship?

  • If only more Mexican fighters focused more on their defense instead of blocking punches with their face to show how much of a "warrior" they are, then we can actually start seeing some more wins.

It don't matter who we fight we always tune in to see our warriors do battle no matter who it is against
When you say "we" who are you referring to?

      • Good point, for every 1 PR fighter there's like 10 Mexican fighters, but then they have this big rivalry. My PR friend, who was raised in PR said boxing there is much different, the government actually supports kids with boxing. He told me boxing is free there, as far gyms/training. Also realize, amateur boxing in Puerto Rico is also supported big, while in Mexico you hear constantly pro boxers saying there's not much support for amateurs there. They use a pro career to learn basically "on-the-job". Which is why you see so many Mexican boxers so young with a lot of fights already, against poor opposition, to learn. PR boxers, look at Cotto, very good amateur. Look at Felix Verdejo, great amateur career.

In short, it's their amateur system.
