great point about no games being on tonight..this is the true test of their popularity and i think he's going to put on his best fights when the competition is away look at thurman porter happening now..

I assume they will consolidate Fox Latino's ratings for Guerreo and Garcia as well? PBC on fire!

Hahaaha Al Haymons personal boxingscene writer, writing an article to defend haymons terrible ratings!

It doesn't get anymore pathetic than this.

I've never seen this before, but its not a surprise, Haymon killing ratings wherever he goes.

What they should have done is moved the fight to this weekend and put Garcia and Guerrero on the undercard. That would guarantee big ratings.

Going up against the Packers-Cardinals game was just a bad move.

Showtime is likely to be the home for Wilder-Povetkin come June, in addition to Fury-Wilder (to close out 2016 or to open up 2017). On top of that you can add another 10-15 solid ShoBox broadcasts, Chavez Jr's fights (Jack vs Chavez Jr is basically looking to be set for April), the international broadcasts for Kell Brook (if the March fight ends up paired with a Khan bout, and hopefully Brook-Khan in the Summer), the fights for Adonis Stevenson (Stevenson-Alvarez is a PPV fight in Canada, which will mean the bout is set for Showtime, unless Stevenson-Kovalev happens), the likely home for Broner-Theophane, and also the stage for any of the PBC broadcasts, come Fall, that PBC runs out of primetime dates for on NBC/CBS/FOX/(possibly ABC).

The demise of Showtime has been greatly exaggerated.

I think the fight served its purpose. Did some nice numbers across several platforms and the KO got notice. Had a couple casual fans at the office talk about it the following Monday. Not to mention Fury helping out.

I like the way they're building Wilder up. Not easy to do so with heavyweights in this climate. The problem is that Wilder is a KO waiting to happen. I'm sure his team is hoping he can remain upright long enough to net them that big heavyweight unification on primetime TV.

Why on earth did they factor out the free-preview people? I didn't know the Nielsen numbers would even do that (if they actually did do that). There might be some spin going on there.

Watched one of the better NFL Playoffs games in recent memory and then watched the fight.

Theres 1 view, if DVR counts, and the only one that matters to me.

Then again i dont have one of those boxes so mine probably didnt even count. I have never met a person who does have a nielson box in all my time

Espinoza did all that Floyd-sucking for a failing end result..Showtime is running with exactly? No major star on the Network and Broner's last fight was a dud...
Hilarious that you won't acknowledge that, over the course of the full six fights (Showtime really only came in short on the Guerrero fight and the Berto fight, since the Maidana fights both brought in ~900k PPV buys), Showtime ended up making a killing on the deal (even after having to split the Pacquiao fight with HBO).

According to the folks on this site, Showtime needed 6m PPV buys, to break even on the deal, and likely ended up with over 7m PPV buys (2.3m as their half of the Pacquiao fight, 2.2m on the Alvarez fight, 900k for Maidana, 900k for Maidana 2, 850k for Guerrero, and even 400k on the Berto fight still ends up with Showtime's PPV total at over 7.5m). Talk about "getting destroyed", lol.

Going forward, even with the PBC effort sopping up most of the fighters affiliated with Haymon, Showtime is the home to Chavez Jr, Adonis Stevenson(any fight that is PPV level in Canada will have to be on Showtime), Adrien Broner(the antics simply don't work on terrestrial TV), a greatly expanded ShoBox franchise, international fight broadcasts with US interest, and the sport's likely next top star, Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder (if he beats Povetkin, beats Martin on terrestrial TV, and beats Fury to close out the year, Showtime ends up with an American heavyweight standing as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world; even with an annual fight, in primetime on free terrestrial TV, keeping that fight on CBS (Showtime's sister channel) keeps that in the family).
