Comments Thread For: All-Star Boxing vs. Canelo, Golden Boy Set For 5/23 Court Date

By Jake Donovan - Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and his handlers continue to hunt for a challenger for a planned May 7 appearance in Las Vegas, but his legal team is well aware of its next opponent in court.

After enduring several delays that have stalled its case for years, promoter All-Star Boxing, Inc. was awarded a break in its ongoing lawsuit with Alvarez and Golden Boy Promotions. A hardline court date has been set for May 23 in Dade County, Florida, this time with little wiggle room to delay the battle any further.

If Canelo signed a 3 year contract with All Star boxing, I don't understand why they would be entitled for compensation Canelo earned in the years beyond that contract?

We all know how this ends...

              After assessing the situation...

Oscar and Canelo take a Collective deep breath, then write a check..... It all goes away in one fell swoop, out of court........

                Clueless

Couple things about this case. First, Golden Boy won't be writing a check until the case has concluded, All-Star has already turned down settlements for millions, now the judge has allowed them to seek punitive damages, which could end up costing GBP tens of millions as All-Star has proven this is pattern behavior on behalf of GBP. Second, for the fan that insists All-Star will "lose plain and simple". Golden Boy has managed to lose at EVERY turn of this case, every motion, discovery delay, etc. It's actually quite impressive that a legal team has been beaten this throughly. This is the type of lawsuit that can take GBP out completely, leave them BK with no big star. I'd say poor Oscar, but his arrogance did this to him. It's really not a matter of win or lose, it's how big a chunk of Oscar and Canello's backside they are going to lose if not all of it.

Tutico, in speaking for myself, and I'm sure many in boxing feel this way, as you conducted yourself in a very professional manner, only to have your fighter stolen from you by a company that can't seem to develop it's own fighters, they having nurtured only one fighter that I know of from pro debut to world champion in 11 years in business. Your diligence and perseverance will be awarded by a court, instead of your abilities being rewarded by your knowledge and hard work, and that is the shame of it all, as the glory of it all has also been stolen from you.
Wishing you the best in your pursuit of justice, and your rightful monetary gain.
