Or am I missing something here? I dont see how either Thurman beating Porter makes him the #1 welterweight or vice versa. I think thats a huge diss to Manny & especially Tim Bradley calling the Thurman vs Porter fight for the #1 WW in the world. I like Thruman and Porter but I can honestly envision an ugly fight with a controversial ending.

in a nutshell yes. he's very one dimensional and always has been.

he's still a top presure fighter and should give thurman problems, it's more about seeing how thurman copes imo

      1. What's wrong with losing to Kell Brook? When the best fight the best someone has to lose right?

      2. He avenged the draw with Diaz with a clear decision win. And Diaz has given other elite fighters like Amir Khan trouble.

      3. Who said that this fight will determine the #1 welterweight in the division? It's just a good fight between two contenders that gets us one step closer to a new welterweight division champion.

Does everything need to be criticized? How about we give two young fighters props for wanting to challenge themselves and prove who is the best?

The Porter hype is at an all time high right now.

This is great motivation for One Time. Porter's getting KTFO on March 12th!

          1. Never said losing to Kell was a bad thing its just losing to one champ than fighting another shouldn't make you #1.

          2. lol, c'mon bro its Julio Diaz, I know he gave Queen Khan trouble but anyone with over 10 KO's has a possibility of giving him trouble. A top WW should not have a draw with a career lightweight way passed his prime and who has several KO losses in his career, just saying.

          3. A consensus on NSB (and just ask around) think this fight will put either guy in the top 10 p4p ranklngs and I wouldnt be surprised if Bradley beats Manny (like Im betting he will) people will rank the winner of this fight above Bradley given the amount of respect people give the Desert Storm.

And lastly, I apologize, I should give these guys more props, more power to Thurman and Porter for signing the dotted line, both guys have way bigger balls than I.

I don't know if it makes either the #1 ww but it is the most relevant fight at ww in the 1st quarter of 2016, given Manny is not going to fight again.

I just hope that the winners of Thurman/porter and Garcia/ghost go on to fight Brook and khan, or each other if Brook and Khan decide to fight. If Bradley/Ali then fight I think we as fans should be satisfied that the highest ranked ww's are fighting each other.

Smart logic, I am hopeful that what you said works out.

Porter is the same fighter...He never was that great to begin with..He's a middleweight who skrinks down to welter and mauls his opponents...THE fight to make is Thurman vs Brook imo but I can respect and enjoy the top guys fighting each other anyway it is..

I don't hear anyone saying if Thurman beats Porter that makes him #1 at Welterweight. Anyone who is saying that is a fool. Ring Magazine, ESPN and just about EVERY creditable rankings have Manny and Bradley ahead of Thurman at welterweight. And Porter is ranked well below all of them including Brook who already beat Porter. This aint some mega fight to determine the king at welterweight but instead just a good fight among 2 good welterweights. Thurman is somewhere in the top 5 of welterweights and Porter is somewhere in the top 6-10 ranked.

As for Porter he is tough to judge from fight to fight because he has a few upsets over bigger named fighters at the time but also stunk it up in fights he lost or drew when he was favored. But whoever wins will still be sitting behind the winner of Manny/Bradley.
