  • Comments Thread For: Alexander Povetkin: Deontay Wilder First, Then I'll Unify The Titles

Brooklyn, New York - The heavyweight division is picking up steam after a decade long domination by the last name Klitschko.

The moment Tyson Fury defeated Wladimir Klitschko last November to capture the WBO/IBO/WBA/IBF titles, the division quickly opened up. Last Saturday the division continued shift in a new direction with the crowning of a new IBF titleholder Charles Martin and the WWE in-ring war of words between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder (36-0, 35KOs) - after Wilder had knocked out Artur Spzilka.

if ggg did anyting good for the sport he brought back ppl talkin about unifying titles..albeit in a terrible division..but i give him credit for that

now to mr alexandria...Sr your title run with u had prior to this doesnt scream u're willing to fight the best as the champ so i prefer wilder over you bc him vs fury is inevitable while you turned fury down to fight the old washed bums and cruiser weights

Wilder was supposed to have an immediate mandatory after his Jan 15 Stiverne fight as Stiverne had to face two having picked up a vacant belt. Wilder has managed to prolong a mandatory by April/May this year say 16 months ? And Povetkin thinks he is getting a voluntary unification versus a Haymon fighter upon seizing the WBC belt ? Dude lives in dream land.

Having witnessed the opponents Fury has feasted on his entire career I very much doubt we'll see Fury step up either as well as Martin. Id like to see Ortiz vs Povetkin, the two best technical boxers in the division. Though I feel Wlad still has a lot to offer the division I'm not sure he can change his style at 41 years old, plus the desire appears to be waning fast on the evidence of his last few fights.

Povetkin beats Wilder unless Wilder reverts to his old, un-schooled style. When he was fighting with opponents before Stiverne he was dangerous. Now he just looks amateurish with a solid right hand which more technical boxers will expose. Besides...who wants to support a man dropping hastages like #righthandhiroshima on their twitter posts. The guys comparing his hand to a moment of utter tradegy in human history and believe me, his world wide appeal for statements like that will decline. Tyson Fury is the king, talk of other HW Champs is irrelevant. That said, i don't think any of the current HW title holders will be there for much longer

            or not

Boxing is "picking up steam"? Wilder vs Spilka was a bullet hole in the leg, Glazkov vs. Martin a hole in the other leg and Fury vs Klit, possibly the worst fight ever in the history of fighting, a hole in the head. Boxing is bleeding out on the ground not "picking up steam". Ratings? Tanking.

He won't win. But he'll never have to worry about that fight cause it will never happen. Wilder only fights unranked bums. And Povetkin cant beat Fury so his best shot is Martin. I would say 50/50 on that one.

Heavyweight division is in a rebuliding stage right now. With the king being dethrown, the future of the division is unclear. There is some real talent out there. I like Wilder not for his boxing skill, but for his power and awkward, herky jerky style in the ring and the excitement that he brings, and I really like Ortiz for his combination of power and skill. I think Ortiz can beat any of these guys. The dude must be taking roids, he looks too scary.

Boxing is bigger than ever in the UK. Fat yanks are just gutted that they're not the centre of boxing any more. Sorry lads.

POV couldn't beat wlad. He will lose to wilder!
Probably take wilder 11 rounds and then get ko'ed by punch he didn't see and say wilders punch power is way too overated
