I have to say i hope this fight never happens. I use to like marquez before the pacman win after that he turned into a childish fighter for me. it was simply "i won now, lets never rematch again and leave it at that " pretty sad really because i had respect for him.
He doesn't deserve a pay day in my eyes, he won a fight he was losing, hes been out the ring for 2 years and hasn't been relevant in so long.
Id like cotto to face a opponent not a name.

I actually wanted this fight about 5 years ago. I liked the style match up. Cotto is faster, but not so much that he could avoid engaging. With JMM's sharp counters this could have been a 50/50 fight with a lot of ebb and flow. At a catchweight, at the right time, this could have been something special.

To many questions now, age, inactivity and health in addition to size.

Cotto should overwhelm him, but, if JMM can defy time and odds one last time, and pac defeats tim, imagine the momentum this would create for a 5th fight of one of the greatest rivalries of all time.....and what a fitting way to end both of their careers (pac and jmm). A fifth fight, provided it's electric as all of the others, could make it the best undisputed rivalry of all time.

If they fight I think Cotto wins. The PAC-A- Maniacs will go crazy talking about how PAC never got KTFO6. Spoon will be creating threads, it will be a mess.

Let's see if the geriatric old man remain on his feet at the end of the fight.

Memo: Use All your powers to give JMM a fighting chance.

No way does Marquez take this fight without a tune-up. Kinda silly given Marque's history to think he would just come off a 2 year lay off and fight a bigger HOF type fighter with out a tune-up. If Marquez looks good with a decent tune-up and if Cotto agrees to an acheivable CW with no rehydration clause, I see no reason why this fight cannot be made. People would complain but they would buy it.

I think it depends how bad marquez' injury is and at what level he can still perform. If he takes it without a tuneup, oh no, we could have Sergio martinez part 2

I get what you're saying but dude is old now, plus he felt screwed during the whole Pacquiao saga. Ppl fail to mention it took Manny 4 and 3 yrs to grant JMM any type of rematch after the 1st and 2nd fights.

I get he wants that one last title but he did a lot in this sport imo.

To be fair, Pac wanted an immediate rematch after the first fight and Marquez turned it down for another fight.

With all due respect to Marquez and his contributions to the sport but please stick to announcing. It's been two years, a bad knee, and god only knows what other ailments. He made really good money in his last four fights. Just call it a career and stop entertaining one last run.

Anybody that thinks this would be a mismatch doesn't understand JMM. Even at 42 he's a much better fighter than Cotto. Is he at a size disadvantage? Yes...but everyone said the same thing before the third Pac fight and he came out and schooled pac no matter what the score cards were. Cotto hasn't been the bully he used to be in a long time. Marquez CAN hurt Cotto, no doubt in my mind Id pay for this ...
