Comments Thread For: WBA Creates Tournament To Set One Champion in Organization

The World Boxing Association (WBA) has come under fire for its creating of multiple champions per weight class. It remains a problem to this day in many weight divisions, but progress begins with a single step.

For the WBA, that first step is a big one, starting at the top (physically speaking) with the heavyweight division.

This is a great start. The other organization should follow suit.

If ever there a weight class needing title clarity, this weight class is not it. We will most likely get an undisputed champion by the end of the year. This tournament will push this idea further back smh.

Is there anyone on this board who does not recognize that this is nothing more than a feeble, calculated attempt by the wba to collect a few more sanctioning fees from a group of gullible journeymen?

Is there anyone on this board who does not recognize that the people on here who complain about to many belts are complaining about this tournament because they don't want to see Ortiz vs. Fury. They're even suggesting Fury drop his belt after fighting Wlad instead of facing Ortiz. There is now a protection force around Fury. They don't want to see him face tough competition. They want an easy road to Wilder. They know Wilder is vulnerable while Ortiz is the real deal. Fury and Ortiz are possibly #1 & #2 in the heavyweight division and Fury fans don't want to see them fight.

He shouldn't be in any tournament. The survivor should have to face him as a mandatory.

                    What idiot conceived this tournament?

Even if the WBA presidente was high on Peruvian dancing dust he would know that the tournament was whacked.
