Once he fights a Povetkin or an Ortiz, then he will start to get taken more seriously. Klitschko's name was built up over years of fighting high caliber opponents. You can't expect Wilder to be a star overnight with only Stiverne on his resume. Respect has to be earned. Of course, he will have his haters no matter what he does, but for the most part, folks were never gonnar be impressed with a title win over Artur Szpilka. These fights are lose/lose for him because if he loses, he's trashed to no end while even when he wins, there's not much to win. If he beat Povetkin, though, he definitely gets my respect. That is a more than worthy challenger and his mandatory. If he got through it by the skin of his teeth even, he still gets my respect after that. But you have to realize in watching the Szpilka fight, can you honestly think he has good balance? Sound fundamentals? Good footwork? Without the hard right hand, that fight would have gone the distance and if Szpilka had been throwing more instead of pausing too often when Wilder was vulnerable, then he might have even lost to Szpilka, who is not respected.

In short, you have to beat the man to be the man and Fury did beat the man. Until Wilder beats of the men in the division, his haters will have easy pickings and the rest of us will just be waiting while those who are die hard will keep on having to defend him.

Well he was going to fight Povetkin but Povetkin is fighting someone else and it wouldn't surprise me if this fight didn't happen. Povetkin ducked Wlad for years and I don't think he'd beat "D Dub".
