Just watched Lewis-Holyfield I Again...Man, I watched this like 7 years back, but did'nt realise it was that big of a robbery, probably forgot about it, but watching it again, lewis was robbed big time by getting a draw, and the HBO commentators agreed lewis was robbed too, it was in the newspapers n everything....just felt like discussing this and sharing your views on this, sorry if it has been discussed before

I take it you are talking about Lewis/Holyfield I and yes he was robbed.He beat him worse the first fight than in the second from what I can remember.

It was such a ludicrous decision, it almost didn't matter. Everyone knew that Lewis had won, & won clearly.
There was no room for debate about it, back then or today. Lewis was viewed as the winner, period.Comment

Are you referring to the Holyfield debacle? Yeah, I do agree Lewis was robbed, and the outrage that the HBO commentators exhibited was very praiseworthy.
Jim Lampley: This is a travesty, a highway robbery. Lennox Lewis was just robbed of the Heavyweight Title.

Your probably talking about the Holyfield fight. Yeah, I had $50 bet on that fight amongst 2 friends. I was in school at the time so $50 bucks was a whole lot of money for me. Anyway halfway through the 12th round they take out there money and pay me, then the score cards are read out and its a DRAW!, I go into my pocket and give them back there money
. That fight was a huge robbery and after the first fight I got no takers for fight number 2.

Absolutely.
If you were falling over yourself to give rounds to Holyfield, it was still 8-to-4 for Lewis.
Don't like that people think Holyfield won the rematch because he tried harder, but Lewis was deflated after that ridiculous draw and didn't come as prepared. Still, it was closer but a definite Lewis win.Comment

Holyfield wanted to end the fight in the third round because he believed it was God's will.
Have not seen this fight for quite some time, but I think Evander won only two or three rounds.Comment

Yup I remember that third round prediction and that was Holy's only real dominant round of the fight-he actually got to LL a bit that round...but that was it.
I was a college kid with $400 bucks on that fight(pretty significant chunck of change) and I was convinced Evander was gonna kick Lennox's ass...I was drinking Natural Ice during the fight and I was so upset by what was taking place I just kept drinking...
Knowing that Lewis had smoked Evander coupled with about 12 or 13 Nice's in my system made it hard to lift my head as the decision was read...lets just say I got a little bit of energy back when I found out I would recieve a refund of my $400 bucks via the draw.
Still pretty upset that LL had managed to make me look foolish yet again and eventually passed out by a curb outside a party a couple hours later...that ****in Lewis!Comment
