Comments Thread For: Szpilka Says Wilder Not as Big of a Puncher as Expected

Heh, the thread is divided between "dude you got KTFO" (which is true) and "I saw him eating Wilder's shots for 8 rounds without any damage to show for it".
I'm in the latter camp. If you look at any other "power puncher", even when they don't KO their opponents in 6 rounds, the opponents were showing damage.
Look at Szpilka's face in round 9 - he's totally clean.

The thing about the argument that he was taking Wilder's shots the whole fight: this is more about Wilder's flawed approach.
He spent the ENTIRE fight trying to land a perfect right hand. I still think Wilder is probably going to get beaten eventually by a better fighter than Szpilka.
Wilder does very little work, he just keeps guys at a distance and looks to hit the jackpot with one punch... and it's worked a bunch of times and it worked yet again on Saturday. I don't think it's going to work forever though.

The clean ones he did take looked like they hurt

Szpilka's head movement and angles were not letting Wilder land clean on him frequently. Then was his jab offsetting Wilder even more making him go backward at times.
The tactic worked until certain point so he might be able to say that Wilder don't hit hard because he didn't get hit as much and at times when he did he was moving his head or legs.
But as seen the minute he opened up it was lights out
