It was good advice...but i disagree with your assessment. That ko was more of a result of spilka switching stances right in front of wilder and leaving himself completely squared up with his head right in the middle.

Mark Breland is a good trainer, he always gives him the right instructions, Wilder just doesn't listen a lot of times so the fight end up being harder for him than it should be but yeah great Call by Breland here

1:39:30, szpilka ducks the same way, right into the right hand.

wilder tries it once just before the knockout, misses by a bit.
tried again and lands it perfectly.

          wow. huge props to corner.
And when they cut to Shields he told Szpilka to come back with the hook. That's what Szpilka was trying to do when he got KO'd. Wow

Watch the video nivek535 posted. He told Wilder exactly what Szpilka was doing, which way he was ducking and when to throw it. Great instructions by Breland and great execution by Wilder.

He has a very knowledgeable corner, i remember being impressed by them in the stiverne fight too, good to see trainers give great instructions and the fighter executing the plan.

I know what he told him...but if spilka would have stayed in his stance he doesn't get hit like that. He walked into it plain and simple.

I watched the fight and saw the corner instructions...i pay attention to that stuff when my viewing atmosphere allows it. I'm not saying it wasn't good advice...but look at spilkas feet when he gets hit. He added a lot of power to that shot by wading in like that. It's amateurish to switch stance while stepping in with shots...it hampers the ability to react to punches coming back not to mention leaving yourself open to being caught squre like spilka did.

Breland was telling him that but it was when Szp. was in the southpaw stance. He got KO'd by stepping over into the traditional stance after throwing a left hand. Wilder countered the left with a right over it! He did have perfect aim and shot the glove right by the left shoulder and on the chin.
It was an excellant counter and caught Szp. out of balance.
