  • Comments Thread For: David Haye: I'm Just as Fast, But Now I'm a Bigger Version

David Haye has dismissed suggestions his time out of the ring has resulted in a loss of speed.

The heavyweight returned to the ring on Saturday night after a three-and-a-half year absence and career-threatening shoulder injury by stopping Mark de Mori in just two minutes and 11 seconds of the first round.

I just watched this fight in YouTube. It's was an ok performance vs a worse than sub-par opponent. Not that impressive.

Plus I have a feeling dude is juiced up. Smdh

Your hand speed is the same and your power has gone up but your movement is slower for sure

Could be the reason he stop talking about Wilder belt since the WBC & VADA will start testing soon

Absolutely. His primary advantage has gone.

Didn't look as fast as he once did.

i saw he still has that quickness in little bursts though with good handspeed, but overall its an older and heavier Haye.

He used to have some excellent reflexes at times and showed it in the Wlad fight, but i think at 35 and four years out, those reflex skills will have faded for sure.

He looked slow and flat footed, and was sweating his back out after 90 seconds. He needs to lose some of that weight imo.

He looked huge and powerful. My guess (hope) is that he knows he's going to be slower than before because he's a few years older so he's refocused around power.

It's hard to draw too many conclusions from that because De Mori looked no good at all, but the main thing was the right hand. I thought Haye was still injured and had come back to beat a bum with his left hand then lose a big money fight by decision and ride off into the sunset with a few million. I was wrong and the right hand is still there. This is going to be fun.

At the weigh-in it occurred to me that is the second time I have seen Haye wander off to the gym and pack on a lot of muscle.

Not casting aspersions, because I wouldn't have a clue, just saying.

But I was happy to hear that De Mori requested additional drug testing and Haye happily complied.
