  • Khan's Last Opponent (Algieri) Was Better Than EVERY 147 Belt-Holders Last Opponents

Mayweather (although now allegedly retired) last fought Andre Berto.

    Bradley last fought Brandon Rios.

Thurman (if you count the belt) last fought Luis Collazo.

Brook (if you count the belt) last fought Frankie Gavin!

    Khan last fought Chris Algieri.

Chris Algieri beats Berto, Rios, Collazo and obviously Gavin.

So essentially, it goes without saying at this point, Khan's last opponent was superior to the last opponents of every welterweight title holder. Every single one.

    So there we have it.

I don't agree that he was much better...but it's perspective on the rest of the division many people lack...They are fast to call out Khan however everyone else is pssyfooting just as much.

The version of Algieri I saw under JDJ looks very interesting...he looked massive compared to Khan who himself was 160 pounds.

Lots got hyped on Bradleys performance over Rios...Rios is a plodding lump though who would also get destroyed by Chris.

There's no excusing Khan though...he only fought once which is a huge mistake.

I agree, Algieri is better than most those names, especially Collazo, Berto and Gavin. Rios is still a strong, solid fighter.

Having said that, Khan fought once, which is a big problem but there's no doubt he is more deserving of a world title shot than Thurman.

Off topic saw Frankie Gavin in a charity shop in Shirley last week. Think he was selling some of his stuff.

Who has chris algeiri ever beaten?

ruslan? That ain't saying much considering many people felt he lost.

Algeri is a espn fighter who got a razor close decision in a title fight against provodnikov.

he never even made a defense of the title.

Algeri is just another guy, and every since 2012 so is khan

            Diaz
            Molina
            Collazo
            Alexander
            Algieri

just ain't good enough for a guy who believes he is elite

Speaks more about khan rather than Algeri and what he brings to the table. He switched his style up once and fought khan to a close match. He's still no longer elite and picked Chris for a reason.

Maybe so but Algieri was still a cherry pick. Algieri was a 140 pounder who only 6 months earlier lost to Pacquiao by a 6 knock down 120 to 102 points lopsided beat down. Algieri made the fight with Khan as close as 115 to 113 on points. Algieri hurt Khan and Khan never hurt Algieri. Algieri said after the Khan fight that Pacquiao was faster, better and punched much harder than Khan. That fight was 8 months ago and Khan still has no fight signed. Is Khan retired? Bradley had no idea Rios would show up in poor condition. Rios was much higher ranked than Algieri and an in shape Rios beats Algieri. Because the welterweight champions aside from Bradley fought very weak opponents in their last fights it doesn't make Khan's cherry pick of Algieri any less a cherry pick. Why would I not count Brook's belt when he beat champion Porter to get it? At least Brook owns a world title belt while Khan has been beltless for almost 4 years with 4 belts to try for. Brook has wanted to fight Khan and called him out for the last 5 years but Khan always turns Brook's challenges down. It's a big money fight for Khan and a chance for him to win a welterweight title.

                    Let see Algieri

Bradley fighting Pac (Pac > Algieri)
Danny fighting Guerrero (Algieri > Guerrero)
Peterson fight Berto (Algieri > Berto)
Thurman fighting Porter (Porter > Algieri)
Brook fighting Bizier (Algieri > Bizier)
                    Ail fighting Vargas (Vargas/Algieri even)
