strange that a guy who wears a mask into the ring for his bumfights and yells his own forced slogan all the time while everyone cringes would call anyone a pro wrestling gimick

Its all about preference. I would much rather see Wilder than anything that resembles that abysmal joke that took place between Vlad and Fury where the total punch count was pathetic. Both Fury and Wilder have balance issue and are awkward but If that is Wilders right hand that lands instead of Cunningham or the other guy who dropped Fury, they would still be counting. But on the flip side, if Harold Sconiers could do the same to Wilder, so could Fury. Edge to Wilder because of styles and who throws the most punches and at heavyweight, that counts, especially if the guy who is busier is by far the hardest puncher.Comment

it became very apparent last night that wilder has trouble using his reach and the guy doesn't know how to work the body or even set those shots up...
a couple of months ago I thought wilder would destroy fury but based on what I saw tonight I'd only give him a puncher's chance...if he doesn't learn how to be effective with his reach I worry povetkin might spoil any chance of a unification this yearComment

I think Wilder didn't use body punches bc of his discomfort with the stances and huge height advantage. I've seen wilder go to the body much better than last night. I also feel like Wilder lets opponents dictate tempo far too much. His pre fight quote was "I love pressure fighters" but that's dangerous nc he's not exactly a counter puncher and has shown to have difficulty with head movement. If he started going forward more purposefully it would cure a lot of his ills.it became very apparent last night that wilder has trouble using his reach and the guy doesn't know how to work the body or even set those shots up...

You out of your mind if you think GGG can beat a HW.
One jab from Deontay and GGG will move backwards the whole fight.
Weight divisions exist for a purpose, cheers.Comment

So you talked to four people and all four were going to fight parties for Wlider-Spilka? Yeah OKKKKKK LOLOLOLOL....I agree that last night generated some buzz. And I didn't realize it to this week, but Wilder has built up a bit of a following down here in the Southeast. I already knew he was big in AL because I went to the Molina fight and it was sold out and an electric atmosphere. And I was sitting a row behind the ringside seating and judging by the conversations going on around me. I was the only hardcore fight fan within hearing distance. But what really shocked me was this week. Up here in TN, which isn't a big boxing state at all. I talked to four seperate people, only one of which is a hardcore fight fan. And all four were doing to different fight parties people were having last night.
I'm curious to see what kinda rating the fight did last night. Cause if they were good enough. With the highlight reel KO and post fight exchange with Fury. It might be wort it to pay Wlad and Provetkin to step aside and let Fury-Wilder happen now.Comment

Yeah, I did. And it was surprising and encouraging. I'm sure you haven't been a fight fan long. But the old saying goes, "As thd heavyweight division goes, so does boxing." Believe it or not there's a lotta sports fans out there that only care about heavyweight boxing.Comment

I think Kovalev would have success at heavyweight. He's kinda short for a heavyweight by today's standards. But his edge in skill over pretty much every top heavyweight may be enough to make up for the height disadvantage. Plus, Kovalev is a pretty big guy amd I think he has the power to keep heavyweights honest.
As for GGG, no way. GGG isn't as well rounded a fighter as Kovalev. GGG can only fight coming forward, which he couldn't do against a top heavyweight. He's also too small and weak. And doesn't hit hard enough to keep those guys off him.Comment

Since we really have no super slick heavyweights, my **** for the buck comes down to Wilder, Povetkin, and Haye and Ortiz and Joshua. Not a fan of Vitali or Fury. Don't dislike them, just not a fan. From the prospect group, I would like to see Charles Martin and Dominic Brazeal and Baby Jarrell and Gerald Washington all fight to see who emerges as a top contender.Comment
