Comments Thread For: Golovkin-Saunders a No Go, Billy Joe To Have Huge Summer Bout

While appearing on Buncy's Boxing Hour, promoter Frank Warren revealed that WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (23-0, 12KOs) is going to make the first defense of his title in the coming months and then have a huge summer headliner in what is going to be a big promotion.

What I get from this is BJS just wants to hold a belt for a little while before he faces his realest threat. Maybe it would be a better fight in 2017, we will see how it all plays out, but I just feel as though thats all there is too it. Maybe waiting for GGG to get another year on the clock, but who knows.

BJS v Ebuank Jr 2 if Eubank wins his coming fights or even a belt.

Not really a surprise, it was clear they really didn't want the fight. Good luck with the imaginary "huge summer fight" against a nobody on a Terry Flanagan undercard.

Sucks a bit, but I can't really blame Saunders.. he's good and could make a few £ with domestic fights, might even get a shot at Canelo but he ain't ready for GGG and I doubt he ever will be.

After all that talk about not giving Eubank Jr another shot, he is just going to give Eubank Jr another shot. Shameful.

Who didn't see this coming? This is the norm with so call champs!Claim they'll fight anybody but find a way to avoid a tough fight by over pricing themselves, blaming their promoter/manager/Haymon/network, etc. GGG's team could have offered Saunders the ridiculous 6 million & they would have found another excuse not to take the fight.

Fake coward....this is becoming the British trend. Get lucky enough to snag a world belt and fight domestic level type fights.

Saunders ducking GGG. Next he will join Roc Nation and start fighting Applebees waiters while calling himself the best and making up silly names for GGG in desperation to hide his fear.

Well, typical boxing, Saunders had a chance to have not a huge bout but a decent bout with Triple G in the Spring...

The Triple G fight in the Spring wouldn't be a "huge" bout, so there is obviously nothing Billy Joe can do to have a huge bout... can't fight Canelo because he'd have to weigh-in at 155 for the fight...

So Saunders will fight a soft-touch and call it a "huge" fight...
