Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Canelo Has Become The Star of The Sport

Ten years ago, former six division world champion Oscar De La Hoya was undoubtedly the biggest star in the sport. Now he runs one of the biggest promotional companies in the sport, Golden Boy Promotions, and his company promotes one of the biggest stars in the sport, WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs).

There's no denying that Canelo is the star at 155 pounds.

    He's dominating that division.

Canelo is a Sham, MR. I am not creating my own Weight Class

The good thing is that many fans are just now learning how they've done this over a GBP. If GGG was inactive for a year and a half, and had to drop 50 pounds to make weight, they'd be begging for that fight.

Now, Canelo and De La Hoya are hoping to throw up road block and road block thinking it will allow enough room to duck GGG without looking weak.

He's not a "superstar ", in that non-fans really don't know his name. But, as far as guys who will still be boxing next year, he's the biggest name in the sport for sure.

We will never see another dominate champ at a 155lbs like Canelo.

He will lose a star every fight he don't fight GGG, same as when GGG lost stars for not fighting Ward. Ward has the same target on his back with Kovalev. Mayweather had the same issue with Pac.

If hes the face of boxing and the top guy he better step up to the plate and fight nothing but the best. Not saying he hasn't, but floyd was a master of not getting hit. Pac was a knock out artist. Sal is neither, I hope he don't start smelling himself
