It was quite respectable, being a world title, I was neutral, seeing as all the top champs actually owned it.. Kosta, then Hatton, Zab (at the time was a good champ).. the list goes on, now the WBO which everybody disliked, is in the top 3.. -
I always felt WBC was the best belt, even though they are clearly biased. WBC's champions are usually the best out of all the governing bodies. I wonder if anyone still regards the WBA as a major title. WBA is really out of it, they have super champions and regular champions, WTF? WBO is good sometimes, they have alot of the real titlists (Calzaghe, Margarito). For the heavyweights, however, the WBO will simply not suffice.Originally posted by Shanus16It was quite respectable, being a world title, I was neutral, seeing as all the top champs actually owned it.. There is no "best belt." It's the fighter that owns it, and the lineage that brought it to him. Tarver was the IBO champ and was recognized as probably the best LHW in the world (Erdei has claim to a split lineage as well, tracing back to Virgil Hill). And the IBO is a computerized joke of a belt. It's the championship lineage that determines the worth of the belt, not the letters printed on it.
As long as sanctioning fees are a percentage of the purse then you are going to see these types of corrupt rulings. They are rematching for a paper title anyway, so who cares?Comment
