In 2006, there were only 66 "world" champions.

And today, there are 71 boxers who can say they are "world" champions.

Without Kovalev and Golovkin, the numbers go up and by this Saturday night, there will be 72.

At this rate, by 2026, there will easily be 80 "world" champions.

Doesn't say much about our sport.
This is why you can't compare a 3x weight division champ from back in the days 50's-80's, to ones from 90's to present...because the latter is WATERED DOWN...

    GREAT POST!

At one time, two divisions was huge. When Pac became "8-division", that was a terrible sign of the times.

I forgot which trainer said this but if anyone remembers please post the quote.

It was something along the lines of "walk into any boxing gym today and say Hey Champ!. Half the room turns around". He was taking a stab at how titles and being champion has been so watered down over the years.

Great point. I don't see making excuses for the scumbags that ruin the sport as a good thing.
