Comments Thread For: Callum Smith: Badou Jack is Nothing Special, He's Beatable

British super middleweight contender is getting very close to a mandatory title shot.

Smith (18-0, 13 KOs) is ranked in the number one spot under the WBC. He might receive a mandatory shot at WBC champion Badou Jack (20-1-1, 12 KOs) or the sanctioning body might order Smith to take part in a final eliminator.

Badou Jack seems like one of those Mayweather "promotions" fighters who is friends with Floyd so Floyd is wasting some money to buy his friendship I mean promote him. Or he's a Top Rank sparring partner or has pics of Haymon in drag. Skill wise though, third tier.

Smith could get to Jack early but after the first few rounds i reckon Jack takes over.

Jack is a good boxer, he's learned from his mistakes and understands his weaknesses (chinny chin chin).

Smith should look for a genuine world level fight before taking on Jack/Degale etc. Someone in the top 10.

The Fielding blowout doesnt erase the Rebrasse performance for me. Until proven otherwise the guy needs a bit more seasoning before stepping up.

Jack shuts him out, the kid needs to get more experience before he fights Jack.
Badou had a great 2015, beat 2 top 10 fighter's in his division while he was the underdog and taking down the champ.
          168 is heating up again.

I disagree... I think he just got caught in the Edwards fight and couldn't recover. Both Dirrell and Groves are bigger punchers than Edwards and were able to land big punches but weren't able to hurt him. It would be a mistake to think his chin is still a weakness unless Smith is a big puncher which we can't yet tell till he fights someone relevant. He's awfully large though... probably the biggest SMW ever lol.

I dont remember taking anything as big as the shot that Edwards hit him with in the Groves and Dirrell fights.

The difference in the last year or so for me is that Jack is seeing everything coming at him. His concentration has been amazing (probably what getting getting KO'd does to you), which means shots are less likely to KO him.

Wlad is similar, his chin still isnt great imo, but his concentration and awareness is off the charts, so even when he takes a big shot (like he has done vs Wach, Haye etc) its less likely to KO him.

The Edwards right wasn't that "big", it was short, quick and perfectly placed however... but your right in that Jack didn't see it coming whereas in recent fights he has had better concentration and hasn't been caught unaware.

jack is an all-round solid fighter whose main strengths are his attitude and temperament. you'd be pretty ****** to underestimate him after last year

Jack is humble and simply keeps improving little by little with every fight. These other guys can keep underestimating him but that just works in his favor.
