Would JMM vs Cotto take away May 5 from Canelo?

Personally I think Marquez taking on anyone with a pulse takes away May 5 from Canelo if hes not fighting GGG. What do you think?

Marquez is not and has never been the big draw Canelo is. Who he fights and when is irrelevant to Canelo. Cotto will try and fight on PR Parade weekend and will stay away from any Canelo May date. Unless it's Floyd vs Manny 2 there is no fight moving Canelo off the May and Sept dates. He could fight anyone and it will fill a baseball arena (like he did against Kirkland) and pull in massive ratings/PPVs like both Kirkland/Cotto fights did last year. He's the new cash cow in boxing. Other promoters will avoid his dates just like they did Floyd before him and Oscar before him.

I cant speak for all Mexican or Mexican American people but personally Id rather watch JMM over Canelo anyday of the week and I wouldnt be surprised if a majority of Mexican or Mexican Americans did too. Canelos last PPV against Cotto made me never want to buy a Canelo PPV again, honestly I say Francisco Vargas made my $ worth spending, not Bore-nelo.

I don't think Cotto-Marquez is even possible with the amount of money those guys will want.

$15-20 Million combined for the purses in a fight that would only do 350,000 buys on ppv? Impossible, unless Roc Nation keeps insisting on losing millions.

Not a chance. Marquez has always been the B side of his PPV's outside of Bradley, which did terrible numbers. Canelo already has the new Vegas arena locked down for Cinco de Drinko weekend and no one is taking that date from him, much less Marquez. Canelo has the May and September dates locked down for the time being.

I don't care what YOU want to see. It's not opinion it's a fact Marquez has never drawn the amount of fans Canelo does. Mexicans, boxing fans go to canelo fights more then Marquez, canelo fills baseball stadiums, and doubles his HBO ratings. As for PPV unless he is fighting pacman who is the draw not Marquez his PPV don't compare either. I'll say it again no promoter is going to put a ppv head to dead with a canelo date because he is the biggest draw in boxing.

And you think canelo is boring? Then what did you think of Floyd Mayweather the ppv king before canelo? And how did that effect his ability to draw huge ppvs?
