The story line dominated boxing headlines while in the meantime, none of these young fighters were getting any buzz.

Now your getting a taste of reality of what the sport really is for the other 99.99999% of fighters. The best fighters in the game can't get big fights because they are too risky. Mid-level eliminators need buildup. Promoters want to keep money in house. Prospects being micro managed.

This is the new era of boxing. Career management and slow marination.
Very good post. With PAC & Floyd leaving, there's a HUGE gap left behind in many aspects of the game. They both cashed out against each other and rode off into the sunset. Everybody else, were left to fill the void.
The common person has completely lost interest in the sport. It'll take awhile to bring it back. That's why we need exciting/talented guys to lead into the next generation.

Fury is cool AF, he's a good start up top. Wilder hits hard, also good.
    Kovalev keeps on crushing opponents.
Golovkin is the biggest hope towards filling the gap left behind (maybe it's Fury because HW's aremore impressive)
WW is completely boring right now with Manny being gone. Bradley never caught on while the rest aren't special.
Lower weights has Roman & some excitement, which is great to boost up an undercard and get people excited about them.

a lot of great posts already.

just want to add we need more characters. boxing is just lacking characters.

      Canelo is BORING.

IN THE RING AS WELL AS OUT OF THE RING.

      Ditto chocalito.

Ditto cotto ( i dont count the gay stuff he does).

GGG also has a tame personality. Floyd and Manny where these great personalities of the opposite end of the spectrum but they also had talent. Fury is a character but im not sure about his talent.

Arum is a character but the guy could croak at any minute, past prime. Oscar despite being a HUUUUGE star, wasnt really a character.

Al Haymon doesnt talk to anybody unless you look like a woman that has penis....

Rigo cant speak english. canelo needs rosetta stone. your ginger adonis features (no **** maybe a dash) are not enough to carry the sport. learn english.

Ward is boring in the ring as well as out of the ring. Kovalev i feel could carry boxing but he might have to go villain boxing's vlad *****, communist aggression right in your face but he seems too cool and calm.

Ken Porter looks too crooked eye to be that all american ray leonard mold. Keith Thurman looks too quirky.... deontay wilder has a chance, but he doesnt have an endearing persona whether he tries the good guy role or the bad guy role. playing the bad guy role requires a somewhat artistic deft touch. you just cant go all wily nily with villainy.

plus all the promotional squabble....despite all that somebody always comes along.

somebody always does to carry the sport both in the ring as well as out of the ring.

I feel/sense there is a great fighter out there with the talent and personality to carry the sport. I feel that he's out there. Time just hasnt revealed him yet. Maybe a chinaman that brings in the wonton ppv money, maybe some badass ****** from an ISIS stronghold... who knows but i sense somebody.... my body is ready.....

      somebody is gonna come along.

This is the first time in a long time I'm actually starting to get excited about boxing again!!
I'm a HW fan first and boxing fan second, so now that Fury has taken out the champ and all these up and comers like Joshua and Parker etc coming onto the scene, it's actually getting far more exciting!!
We just need to see some fights made. Fury vs Wilder. Ortiz vs Ustinov. Wilder vs Povetkin. Ortiz vs Povetkin.
Parker and Joshua need to step up a bit.
HW could be awesome if the fights get made.
But that's the question.... will the fights actually get made?

You want to know the truth.....McGregor vs Dos Anjos is the fight I want to see more then any boxing match....yes it's blasphemous but in boxing the best don't fight the best (until they are ready by the promoters, which can take months to years).....the best mma featherweight vs the best lightweight are fighting in the matter of a few weeks from both there previous spectacular victories!..I want to watch and so do u!.....facts. It's ok to appreciate a great event with 2 talented fighters whether it be in boxing or mma....we must learn to appreciate and watch both sports. Peace.

I feel like boxing is on the brink of being really awesome, or totally meh in the next year.
There are so many awesome matches that can be made, but wont because of promotional issues or whatever. I fear we're gonna keep seeing PBC fights that really dont determine anything and TR/GB fights that will be action packed, but will also be lacking in significance.
