    this.

fury is without a doubt the champion of the division. you can't get a more lineal champ than a guy who beat a hall of famer at the end of a lineal run. i think wilder should be favored against more guys because of his athleticism and punching power. i think he beats fury. povetkin might beat him, doe.

ortiz is a threat to knock any of these guys out.

    joshua can fight

the division is heating up. i really think that. the biggest fights in the next few years will involved the big 4 in the weight classes [canelo, ward, golovkin, kovalev,] and the HW division.

maybe a guy proves himself to be the top dog at WW out of brook, crawford, bradley, porter, thurman, and becomes a draw.

If Wilder defeats Szpilka, Fury will still be the man. If Wladimir wins the rematch, then he's back at number one. If Tyson Fury takes him again, he's still on top. It's going to come down to Fury either falling off or Wilder getting a fight with him or Klitschko in order for one of the two to be knocked off. Ortiz did great against Jennings, but he has to do more than that to be number one. Wladimir held the spot for so long that it's not that easy to step in and take it away. And Joshua just doesn't have the experience or accomplishments yet.
Preciesly. It's a no brainer. The only way Wilder gets the number one spot is if he beats either Fury or Wlad (whoever wins the rematch), or they fall off the radar for whatever reason. He's not going to get any higher than number two beating an endless succession of low to mid-level guys, no matter how impressively. Wlad had such a stranglehold on the division that by beating him Fury instantly achieves that exalted position.

Wilder could theoretically surpass Fury if he knocks out both Povetkin and Ortiz and Fury doesn't get a good win in that time, but the chances of that happening are, let's face it, very slim.

How is Wilder tied for no 1? He is the definition of a bum fighter.

I agree, King Kong and Joshua both nice fighters, HW is pure heat in 2 years.

I don't see Wilder beating Povetkin or Ortiz. He wobbles too easily. Ortiz would touch him and it wouldn't be touch and go. It would be touch and dead. He did beat an unhealthy Stiverne, but I honestly think he got lucky on that one. Either way, I hope the best guys in the division start getting the title shots soon. Fighting often is fine, but not against bums. The champion should be fighting the best. If there were only one belt out there, Wilder, couldn't get away with this.

Has to be Fury for now but the division is quite open. Wilder and Fury should be slaughtered any time they face a guy outside of the top 5 for as long as they hold the belts. Fortunately I think both of them want to face challenges, but whether or not Al will put Deontay through the fire is uncertain. He's long overdue a big test. Hopefully we'll see it with Povetkin.
