Comments Thread For: Gradovich vs. Galicia LIVE Results From Spain

28-year old super welterweight Sergey Shigashev of Electrostal, Russia, had a very rocky pro debut at the Centro Deportivo Boxing Unitres in Picahna, Spain, as he was barely to overcome tough-as-nails Ukrainian expatriate Ivan Grynyuk (7-6-1, 3 KOs) with a majority decision over six rounds.

He's a good fighter. I don't think anyone ever thought of him as that good. I mean his best wins are over Billy Dib. He is exactly what you expect, not many dimensions. He can be outboxed if you can keep him off of you, and will beat the guys who can't. I am rolling with him if he fights Donaire for the title though. Donaire has always struck me as soft.

Exactly, he has accomplished more than anyone expected. I never thought he'd be a champion, just a contender the rest of his life. I even thought Billy Dib was going to beat him, which reflected the betting odds which had Gradovich as an underdog. I give him a 10/10 on success since he has surpassed my expectations and became a champion. Like you said, nobody said he was elite.
