That, right there, is absolutely spot on the money. The guy is a bit delusional, or a lot delusional. Premature talk of P4P went to his head, and he believed his own hype. He's a decent, if boring, operator, who maybe could have been so much more - the Froch rematch in UK, for example, would have solidified his reputation AND put millions in his bank account.
Many avid boxing followers now have a dislike for the guy because he has done nothing of note for years and years. I'm glad he's taking on a semi respectable opponent (if it actually happens), but supporters of his would have us believe he's doing boxing some massive favour by taking on a minor risk.

If he wins = good, we get to see Kovalev dismantle him. If he loses that's ok too, he can fight more bums in Oakland bingo halls. Not good for boxing, him and his attitude.
Ward isn't delusional at all. He knows well what he's doing.

Ward should be fighting in vegas by now, he shouldnt just be fighting in Oakland.
Barrera isn't well known and Ward isn't exactly a universal fan favorite so how many people do you think would be interested in traveling to vegas to see them? In reality Oakland is the best place for this type of fight....

And to think, this is only his come back tune up fight. This is a great fight.

GGG could take some tips from Ward when it comes to picking opponents.

... while Paul Smith at 176 was a life and death title fight, right?

                  They really don't.

Say its ring rust as to why Ward has a problem with Barrera but still wins. Then Ward beats Kovalev easily. Your triangle theory served no purpose at all. Just talking to be talking is what it will be rendered down to.

Don't know why people upset that this fight is in Oakland. People complain that he doesn't have a big enough fanbase so he's fighting in his backyard to try and increase that fanbase. I'd much rather this then force him in NY or Vegas and risk a bad turnout. He has a better chance of drawing bigger crowds in Oakland. Wait till he has a bigger named opponent to help draw fans in Vegas or the East Coast. In the meantime keep building in Cali. It's still being broadcast on HBO so you can watch it from anywhere.

Is that what you're hoping for? Boxing fans are a strange breed....
