As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, the World Boxing Association will remove Floyd Mayweather Jr. from his position as the reigning world champion at welterweight and junior middleweight. Mayweather retired last September after winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

They don't care as much about Thurman being promoted to "super" champion, because they already call him a champion on their pathetic broadcasts now, despite him only having a "regular" (see: not real) title. This would have given them another quote/unquote "champion".
