Comments Thread For: Freddie Roach is Not Yet Impressed By Bradley, Atlas Pairing

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach is not impressed, at least not yet, with the recent pairing of Timothy Bradley (33-1-1, 13 KOs) and Teddy Atlas.

Bradley hired Atlas in September after parting ways with career trainer Joel Diaz and hired Atlas.

Well, I did see some changes to Bradley's approach vs Rios under Atlas. He had great balance and footwork, he stayed consistent with the jab, and he attacked the body from the 1st round until it was stopped. He stayed disciplined the entire fight. That alone will present some serious issues for Manny. Manny does not like shots to the body, and Tim was very successful with a body attack in the 2nd fight until the injury. Once he was injured, he threw everything out the window and went for the homerun shot. A healthy disciplined Bradley under Atlas will put the exclamation point on this rubbermatch. Manny's team picked Bradley because they think he will stay right in front of Manny and make it an exciting fight. Atlas will train Tim to strictly box and use a lot of footwork and head movement. Tim will use the jab more and attack the body. It will look a lot like Floyd fighting Manny except with a little more action. If Manny does not KO Tim, he will lose on points.

Teddy Atlas has never developed any fighter-ever

Teddy ME Atlas is a rectum gas wind bag spouting smelly hot air out of both ends bragging about himself as a top trainer while in essence the loud mouthed gas machine belching wind bag erupter has done actually little in developing any fighter of note. Teddy only claim to boxing fame is almost shooting and killing Mike Tyson in the Catskills after Tyson accosted Teddy's sister. Teddy put a loaded pistol to Mike Tyson's head and had to be restrained. Atlas was promptly fired by Cus and removed from the fight camp. Atlas is a braggart who has never actually trained any top fighter. Teddy Bull ship is a nothing.

"Teddy likes to tell stories, he's said things to his fighters like, 'I have your son on the line, you're embarrassing him.'
            Fucking seriously? :laff:

OK, I know not to take anything Joke CockRoach says seriously, but that does sound like something straight out of the Atlas quotebook. This is a man who called himself and Bradley firemen, after all.

Well, all I got to say is Roach better teach Pac to look out for right hand this time around because Bradley is going to be setting Pac up for them all fight long.

See, people refuse to accept that Tim was hurt in the rematch but dude had to have a complete chunk of his calf muscle removed in surgery after that fight. Before he got hurt, I remember thinking that he might stop Pac the way he was tagging him. If Tim boxes and stays behind the jab, Manny is in trouble.

I always wondered about the gun to tyson's head story.

                  1) Teddy does not have a sister or a brother. He's the only child of a wealthy doctor and a miss American beauty pageant contestant.
                  2) Given Tyson's local celeb & immaturity, it seems reasonable that Tyson was inappropriate with someone close to teddy (but again, was certainly not his sister). So why the embellishment?
                  3) did Tyson ever confirm or deny teddy put a loaded gun to his head, and then shot it into the air. Teddy said he did it at the gym. Were there any witnesses? Come on, man.
                  4) let's say it did happen. You're telling me that a maniacal 15 year old man-child, urchin of the ******, is going to let some rich kid from the 'burbs do that without retaliation?

Im sure some kind of altercation happened, but the whole thing always seemed a bit fishy to me.

Atlas borrowed a .38 from a pal, tracked down Tyson one night in 1982, told him to smarten up, and fired the gun, deliberately missing, for emphasis. That was the end of Atlas helping Tyson learn the ropes."
