I voted that I like him but wish he would fight better opposition. He has only fought a guy rated top ten is the world once when he won his title. His first two defenses were against guys boxrec ranked about 25th and his next defense is against a guy they rank 19th so that's a little better. I would like him to fight guys ranked in the top 10 in the world. That is what good champions should do. How about giving Ortiz a title shot? Ortiz certainly deserve a title shot.
Deontay Wilder: love him or hate him?

I like him as a person seems like a cool cat and helping his daughter is awesome but enough with the garbage title defenses enough is enough. He is using excuses not to fight Ortiz,Povetkin and now Fury.
If your a world champion please fight other world champs, I'll give you one title defense in your hometown or gimme but after that step it up. Molina almost had him out of there for **** sakes and the French Baqutte maker gave him hell. It's sad that he gave a title shot to a guy that got destroyed by a feather fisted heavyweight Brian Jennings just shows you what his management think of his talent.Comment

I used to be a Wilder hater but I've come to appreciate him. He stays active, doesn't get out of shape and is always ready to fight. We talk about his weak resume but he did win his belt in the ring. I thought Stiverne was gonna be to much for him. He needed those last two fights because he's still a project and needs rounds more than anything. He stepped it up with Glazkof, that didn't work but Szpilka isn't as bad as Molina and Duhaupas. He's willing to fight Povetkin and has said he'd travel to Russia to do it. I like the trash talk between him and Fury and they're actually good friends. His fights are exciting, that jump punch against Duhaupas was hilarious. I see a brutal KO in his future but it'll be fun to watch. Hopefully he gets past Szpilka and fights Povetkin.Comment

He's a prick. Fed up of him talking like he's some kind of elite champion because he holds a paper belt.
His comments after Fury became the champ were ridiculous.
"I'm now the best HW in the world"
"My belt is worth more than Fury's other belts combined"
I understand that he's potentially trying to hype a future fight with Fury, but seeing as he's trying to get corpses like Adamek out of retirement to fight him, does anyone really believe that he'll get in the ring with a truly elite HW like Fury or Ortiz?
He reminds me of David Haye. His mouth writes cheques that he can't cash.Comment

I think that's a bit harsh. Wilder might be a loudmouth and a braggart, but he fights often and tends to deliver exciting fights, albeit not against the greatest competition. He also seems quite tongue in cheek a lot of the time, which makes a lot of his comments easier to take, for me at least. Haye literally had nothing likeable about him whatsoever. He fought irregularly, made promises he never kept, lied and conned a gullible populace and didn't even deliver the goods in the ring half the time. Plus, he had an absolutely loathsome, up his own arse personality that wasn't the least bit entertaining. I'd take Wilder over Haye anytime.Comment

I am only slightly against him at the moment but only because he has a belt. And entirely because he has been carefully matched outside of Stiverne who at that time very decent.
If he didn't have a belt I would be fine with him as it is good for there to be a brash, confident, top American heavy.
If he fights and beats Povetkin then he is superstar.
Still find it hard to figure out how good he is outside of having a bomb of a right hand but all top heavyweights can ****.Comment

I used to think he was more or less the new version of Michael Grant but he surprised me with his performance against Stiverne, he looked very solid. There are still question marks because of his lack of good opponents but I now believe he's a lot better than people give him credit for.
I'm still not completely sold on him but Wilder with flaws and all makes him unpredictable and an exciting fighter, I get the feeling he can beat anyone but also lose to anyone. At the end of the day he's good for the HW divison.Comment
