Comments Thread For: Garcia: Verdejo-Rodriguez Could Be Like Cotto-Margarito!

BoxingScene.com recently sat down with top trainer Robert Garcia, who has a stable of fighters that is rapidly growing.

One fighter he works with is exciting super featherweight prospect Saul Rodriguez (19-0-1, 14KOs) who recently scored a first round stoppage of Ivan Najera at the Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The unexpected short ending was the most impressive outing for Rodriguez to date.

Slow dowwwn. We are years away from them reaching that magnitude. Verdejo hasn't survived that Judah uppercut, that Corley right hand or that tough back and forth fight with Mosley to see if he can overcome adversity and make adjustments.

They can make it happen..... I don't see the point in Verdejo dropping down to 130 lbs though since Rodriguez has fought OVER 130 in his past couple of fights.

verdejo is already ripped to shreds and his frame too big. this would have to happen at lightweight or junior welter when it matters.

verdejo'll be the only one from the island to hold it down. everything else is looking pretty anemic.

                Few Years Away

This fight won't happen till 2017 more likely 2018, These guys have tremendous upsides and Top Rank will let this potential rivalry grow.

They both had a solid 2015 campaign and will probably start fighting some solid veterans or gate keepers of the division this year coming up.

There is no way they fight at 130 or 135 more like 140 eventually.
