Comments Thread For: Amir Khan at a Crossroads as The New Year Begins

It is now three-and-a-half years since the Bolton fighter was in a world title fight.

That is far too long for someone in the prime of their career who had been sharing the ring with top names such as Paulie Malignaggi, Marco Antonio Barrera and Zab Judah.

Khan is 29 and for a man whose fast hands are his favoured weapon, there is a worry they will soon start to slow.

    The problem isn't with Khan.

The problem is with other 'fighters'. They keep on ducking him, even though Khan brings them the most money.

    Fighters who have avoided Khan:
    Mayweather
    Pacquiao
    Bradley
    Marquez
    Broner
    Garcia (rematch)

How should've Khan realised they didn't want to fight him?

Floyd was in deep negotiations with Khan, and Khan had even signed his contract. It was virtually a done deal, until Floyd changed his mind in favor of Maidana. Khan would've almost been silly not to try.

And almost same deal with Pac. He came close. Such a huge fight, he had to try.

          Should Have Stayed

This is the only guy in my opinion who should have stayed with Oscar and Golden Boy Promotions instead of deciding to stay with Al Haymon. By now Oscar probably would have gotten him a fights with Bradley, Rios, Lucas, or Provo.

Any of those wins would have positioned him better to fight Canelo or Pac instead of him sitting, waiting, and hoping that he would have gotten a shot at Money May.

He is hurting his own career by taking this wait and see approach. Their are plenty of fights out their for him to take like Brook and capture a world title but instead he's putting his career on hold.

He needs to wake up and realize that he's not yet a global star like Money May, or Pac. He needs to rake up the wins against major competition and then maybe he will get those guys in the ring.

Oscar mentioned that he wanted to make Amir Khan vs Canelo in May. That would be a interesting fight to see if it's possible to make.

Khan did the right thing trying to get those fights he can collect worthless belts anytime. He may not have gotten the fights but he proved that he is a fighter to be avoided

Poor Amir, he's going to have to keep making a ****load of money fighting mediocre gatekeeper opponents.

Cant catch a break, that guy.

Remember when Khan was saying he was going to unify 140 and 147 and then retire before he was 30?
We are a long way for those days. He really needs to fight Brook this year. It could be huge in the UK. A Garcia rematch should happen as well at 147. Those are two very winnable fights that would help his stock.
