Comments Thread For: Team Porter Waiting For Thurman Contract Confirmation

There are reports that the welterweight showdown between WBA welterweight belt-holder Keith 'One Time' Thurman and former IBF beltholder 'Showtime' Shawn Porter will land on March 5th in Las Vegas.

But Kenny Porter, the father/trainer/manager of 'Showtime' Porter told BoxingScene.com on Friday - "This is news to me. As of this point in time we don't have a date, time or place."

July 2015 - May 2016 for Thurman, June 2015 - May 2016 for Porter... Way too long of a stretch for both of these guys not to fight. How in the hell could the December date have been to early for "sometimes Thurman"... I don't know who is ducking who or what the hold up is, but seems like Porter is pushing for the action and Thurman is MIA.

        It's March 5th, not May

Thurman was made uncomfortable by Collazo. He watched some Porter fights and said, "**** this."

A hold has been placed on the location pending approval from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, with the item part of a loaded monthly agenda hearing scheduled for January 12, also in Las Vegas. - See more at: http://www.boxingscene.com/thurman-p....fKh1CVkX.dpuf

Kenny Porter is making me a fan of Keith Thurman. He talks to damn much.

It's disappointing. I'm still a fan of his but it seems like he's been spoiled and now doesn't need, or want, to challenge himself. He's got a decent name in the division and a belt. I think he's waiting for something a little more lucrative and easier. Probably a fight with Danny Garcia which he believes he could win. I think overall Thurman is better than Porter but I'm not sure he'd beat him seeing as how he doesn't seem to deal well with constant pressure. Porter is one of the strongest guys he will have faced and easily the most aggressive, even if it is sloppy.

I'll tell you what... Porter better back up this talk. If he goes out there and gets KOed, him and his dad are going to look like a bunch of fools.

                  tread lightly...

It's not hard to understand why the Porters seem frantic about indefiniteness of the fight. It has to do with their training schedule. They'd probably prefer that the fight be scrapped so they can move on.
