Comments Thread For: Usyk's Trainer Wants To Crown Him Champ at Two Weights

Veteran trainer James Ali Bashir has big goals for rising cruiserweight superstar Oleksandr Usyk (9-0, 9KOs).

The boxer stepped in the ring three times in 2015, stopped Andrey Knyazev in eight rounds in April, Johnny Muller in three rounds in August and earlier this month he knocked out one-time heavyweight contender Pedro Rodriguez in seven rounds.

Good fighter but i think it's difficult for a Cruiserweight to step up to Heavyweight and dominate in these times with the size of the heavyweights now. It's a big jump from that to fighting someone like Fury who is 6'9, is smart and talented and can actually move when you're a Cruiserweight. "Cunningham put him down" - yeah he did but when Fury got chance to use his massive size against him, he put his lights out.

That's not to dis-credit Usyk, maybe he'll prove me wrong. He is very talented but i just think the Heavyweight division now is very different to the past and it's almost unrealistic to expect a Cruiserweight to compete there now, that size gap is getting bigger and bigger all the time to the point where talent can be beaten by sheer size difference (and a bit of talent).

What a great time to be a boxing fan.

      GGG @160, Kovalev @176 and Usyk @200.

K2 has another absolute beast in his stable. Usyk will be a fan favorite similar to GGG in a couple years.
