    Mexico-Japan rivalry > Mexico/Puerto Rico rivalry

    Yea or nay?

I say yea because if you're looking for which rivalry over the decades has produced the better quality matches in terms of action and excitement then IMO you'd go with the Mexico-Japan rivalry.

I think the Mexico vs Japan rivalry is great. Japanese fighters are highly underrated in the sport of boxing. I think this rivalry is overlooked mainly for 2 reasons, 1 this rivalry usually takes place at or around 108-116lbs and the media doesnt pay to much attention to fighters at that weight. And 2, for the most part Japanese and Mexican fighters are very humble, which in turn again presents nothing for the media to feed off of. If Japan produced a loudmouth boxer or a loudmouth trainer calling themselves a "Mexicutioner" this would heat up the rivalry and bring epic fights into light. You have to bring the Machismo out of it basically which is what and why the Mexican vs PR rivalry thrives off of within the media.

I have to agree as a unbiased observer.

I personally find the Mexico - Japan and Mexico - Philippines "rivalry" more entertaining than the Mex vs PR one. Mexico dominates Puerto Rico 95% of the time. PR boxing is currently in a slump but there are a lot of nice prospects on the come up!

I agree as well. Puerto Rican's tend to fold and are "Safety first" type fighters when fighting outside their hometown (NY,PHILLY,PR). Japs always have that Kamikaze type mentality and I think they might actually be beating Mexico in the lower weight classes.

I feel like I read this before, but the Mex vs PR Rivarly is one rich with history but as of late yes the Mex vs JAP and the Mex vs Pinoy has been more evenly contested because as of late the PR has literally been no competition for anyone, they are in a rebuild mode and looks to stay that way for the next 5 years or so as I see no promising prospect arising yet.
