Comments Thread For: Mayweather: Ward Shouldn't Fight Kovalev; GGG 'Easy' Work

Floyd Mayweather Jr. considers Andre Ward the best boxer, pound-for-pound, in the world now that he has retired. Mayweather doesn't think it’s a good idea, however, for Ward to move up to 175 pounds for a showdown with IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev. The undefeated five-division champion told FightHype.com’s Ben Thompson in an interview posted Wednesday that Ward should instead pursue a 168-pound fight against middleweight knockout artist Gennady Golovkin in 2016.

The best case scenario would be if we could see Ward fight both Golovkin and Kovalev, but since Golovkin is avoiding it Ward can't afford to wait around for him to change his mind. Ward needs to do something to reestablish himself again, and a Kovalev fight is the best and most realistic way to do that.

So bring on Ward/Kovalev. It's the best fight in the sport and I can't wait to see it.

That ship has sailed. GGG doesn't want it. The move to 175 is the right one.

Where do I begin with this thread?
Nobody cares about GGG and Ward. People want to see Floyd and GGG at 160. Floyd has been dining on smaller fighters his whole career. Why cant GGG fight one smaller fighter in Floyd?

If GGG is so easy, why don't Floyd fight GGG? Floyds always got something to say abouit it? So why don't you fight GGG? Tell the world you enjoy talking so much. Don't say you are retired! You retired so you don't have to fight GGG! When in your career have you fought one punch ko artist? You avoided speed as well.

It would be easy for Ward against GGG, but would it be easy for you Floyd that is the question? Duran nearly beat Hagler or wasn't too far off! What about you Floyd? Your best win is over a smaller guy!

Ward just needs to fight a live body.

Can't live off the past forever. Ward vs Froch was 4 years ago.

                Mayweather is a Cancer

Mayweather is just out running his mouth for Al Haymon and PBC. I'm sure Haymon is upset that Ward chose Roc Nation and Jay-Z over him.

Anyone who thinks Mayweather isn't a racist is kidding himself, have you ever heard him praise any white fighter? Not sure what smaller fighters GGG has been calling out? If anyone has been fighting smaller guys, it's been Ward but he gets a pass from Mayweather because of his skin color.
