It's too early to even assume the weight limit for their bout. Canelo was quoted before the Cotto bout so the press and gossip is just having fun riding with it. Seeing how Champions or former champions have a bias from councils and are influenced from other greats it's all part of the culture. From Pac's legacy of catchweights, Mayweather forcing 152 on Alvarez, Cotto winning or denfending his Lineal. GGG demanding a 164 against Ward. It never stops. The double standards are normal it's really nothing to complain about.

The fight will either be at 158 or 160 (limit).

Seeing how GGG hasn't moved up yet he's demanding a catch is less better than someone who just won the Lineal and dragged along Cottos 155 drama. Again, the mandatory defense will happen and its up to the WBC to handle the date. This is why Team Canelo or GBP have been having fun with the Lineal status. As others have said, GGG can't do anything about it!

You are correct. 160 is the max for middleweight, but why does Canelo want it to be at 155?

what are you talking about? Trip G never even fought at 168 so you expect him to just jump up and fight the supposed best at that weight? It'd be one thing if Trip G fought at 168 and then told Ward he had to go to 164, but he hasn't.

So what's the answer though, why 155? Why not 160?

Wait a minute you trolling innit?!

You didn't get the 2015 industry memo that GGG wanted Froch at 168?!

              Lol

Not sure about your reading comprehension.

Again, Canelo and GBP publicity made the presser for 155 before the Canelo bout. There are no new leads about the limit? For now 2016 fans will watch bouts from either until they meet and both K2 or GBP finalize the bout. "155" is like Pac's sea water... Don't believe the writers that are pro K2. They are paid to make some look inferior to the cause. All normal.

Not defending Canelo asking for a catchweight just saying that Middleweight is not limited to only 160

To Drain Him! We all know why he is asking for it. Even after his next fight and they start to negotiate for September they will still demand a catchweight, probably move it up to 157
