Look, I'm not taking anything away from Wilder, I just think he still has a lot to prove. He definitely has the potential, and I'm hoping he can pan out. It just a feeling I have deep down inside that tells me that when he starts facing legit opponents, he'll be exposed. But I give him credit for staying active and wanting big fights, even though I question his antics and real desire to face Povetkin.

And lets be honest here, Fury taking the lineal strap of of Wlad was not an impressive showing. It was actually a pretty pathetic fight by both guys. Fury won, yes, and he gets credit for that. But Wlad is like 60 years old, and looked like he has completely lost his ability to pull the trigger. It wasn't anything close to a convincing outclassing that proved he was the best in the division.

Hey, the chances are better than not that Wilder will get knocked off his perch. He started boxing at 20, relies on a powerful right hand, and at times literally looks like he's fighting his way out of a wet paper bag. But I am intrigued by a monster that actually likes to punch. Too often with the big guys (Fury, Klitschko) they either can't punch or are unwilling to do so more often than not. Wilder-Povetkin figures to be a good scrap. I hope it gets primetime NBC billing and a proper promotion. Povetkin is listed as the #2 HW contender right now so it will be nice to see Wilder fight a second top-3 heavyweight contender in consecutive years.

I really hope your being sarcastic about the Scott dive. If not, you must be living in an alternate universe. I didn't see any "huge left hand". It was a glancing right that slid off of Scott's gloves and didn't even come close to connecting cleanly that "knocked him out". Duhap fought tough, but that doesn't mean that he's not a cab driver. I think it says more about Wilder's ability that he had a war with Duhap, than it does about Duhap being a legit HW.

I think that little g's P4P ranking by the ring is a complete joke. He has yet to fight a legit dangerous opponent. Who's the best guy he's fought? Lemieux? Lemieux is a b class fighter who's signature career win was a war against N'Dam. I don't think that railroading bums and b class fighters warrants a P4P ranking. Glovokin ducking Ward after calling out Froch, Chaves, and "anyone from 154-168" proved that he doesn't want to fight the elite fighters. Glovokin wants to take the path of least resistance, i.e., winning titles from journeyman and winning vacant titles.

You're not making sense. He's going after every champ at his weight, and Froch is hardly a journeyman. He's Wards best win if fact, except Ward needs several tuneups to fight such an opponent going up in weight

Agreed, it is refreshing to see a HW who goes for the kill every fight. A lot of guys talk about knocking out their opponent, but few really try to make it a reality. Seems like the cool thing to play defense and not get hit, which has watered things down a bit IMO. I think that Wilder vs Ortiz would be a really fun match. Although I think Ortiz would pick him apart an KO him, just way too much experience from the Cuban amateurs.

When did I say Froch was a journeyman? I guess I see how you could interpret that from how my comment, but that's not what I meant. I actually respect Froch. However, there's no denying that Froch at this stage of his career is a much easier fight than Ward. Froch is pushing 40, no? And Chavez? That's a real brave fight to pick. But ggg he has no problem calling out little guys like Floyd.

I see the shot, I just don't think it was a legit ko shot, it was a slap with his lead hand, watch at 1:10. Even casuals who don't watch boxing know that was a dive. I've seen Scott take way bigger shots than that and survive. Consensus in the boxing community is that Scott took a dive, and I think the evidence is very clear to support that.

Froch had been saying all along that he wanted to avenge his loss to Ward, but again, he was set on retirement and passed on the fight. And Froch wasn't the #1 SMW, Andre Ward was, he defeated Froch and was still the SMW Lineal champ at the time.

They've been chasing Froch since Chavez backed out summer of 14. Froch was months removed from his huge Wembley win, and aiming for Chavez in Vegas. Ward was removed from the rankings, been years since he fought at SMW.

GGG will go up a division for a big fight, though not at the expense of his Canelo mando, since that's the biggest fight in boxing. But for a guy like Froch, he doesn't need 168 tuneups, hell he'll fight him in the UK. Can you imagine Ward going up in weight to fight p4p rated active LHW with no tuneups, in the other guys home town abroad.
