Hard to agree with you. Mayweather and Pacquiao became PPV superstars during that time. Mayweather had 5 fights that sold 1M+ PPVs. Pacquiao had 5 as well. Plus we got Mayweather-Marquez, Mayweather-Mosley, Mayweather-Cotto, Mayweather-Canelo, Pacquiao-Cotto, Pacquiao-Margarito, Pacquiao-Marquez III, and Pacquiao-Marquez IV out of it.

And that didn't benefit anyone but themselves. It didn't benefit the sport while they marinated and delayed a fight long past it's sell by date. It was the most blatant and transparent cash grab in recent memory.

So effing true! I categorically agree with you. My biggest fear is coming true. Floyd ducking Manny for 5 years and waiting till the offensive minded, pressure fighter aged and got knocked out so that he would be lesser of a threat and all parties involved making a boatload of money is causing others to follow suit and put money above legacy and the fans who make these a$$holes rich!
