It's a shame that a fat biased **** that knows **** all about boxing is such a prominent voice for the sport.

I posted earlier that his bosses must have made him do it. I just can't believe he actually felt this way. Has to be political motivation.

Whether its quality of opponent or significance of the win, there is just no way it's Canelo.

Floyd beat Manny in a fight that did 4.6 mil PPV's. Fury beat Wlad, who hadn't lost in over 11 years. Those are 2 EPIC wins, even if the fights were not as entertaining as we hoped.

It's an out right travesty that Dan gave Canelo the award (and had GGG 2nd) over either of them.

ive been on various sites and most had GGG as a finalist....wow.....you don't have to do anything now besides knock people out and be popular to win fighter of the year


How many times has Manny won fighter of the year?? and how many times has some one defeated him and they did not win????


Its about who the media wants to be the best, not who actually is the best

Just to show you how much of a joke Rafael is he had Wlad in his top 10 p4p. Fury damn near shut out Wlad but Fury isn't in his top 10 p4p. So according to Dan if you dominate a top 10 p4p fighter you it doesn't earn you a spot in his top 10 p4p.

If Rafael wasn't backed by ESPN he would not be taken seriously. Sadly casual fans read Dan but not sites like boxing scene.

That's a prospect of the year resume, not FOTY.

I made a similar point. Manny and wlad were the only espn top10 p4p boxers that lost this year. Shouldn't that count for something.

Rousey won ESPY fighter of the year not so long ago. Why would Canelo winning ESPN fighter of the year shock anyone?

Individual awards for 'excellence' in sport are rarely earned.

Canelo had a good year but beating Manny and Berto > Kirkland and Cotto


Floyd deserves it....he beat Cotto and Canelo in the past and beat a top 5 p4p guy in Pac


ESPN have been ready for his departure from the sport for some time

I've read Dan Rafael for many years. He has always been fair to Mayweather. He criticizes Mayweather when it is necessary and also praises him. They get along well with each other. This award doesn't reflect a distaste for Mayweather on ESPN's part.
