Why is ***** letting him in trying to Westernize Russian fighters. There is nothing that he can teach them beyond show boating in the ring. It's all about the fundamentals with Russians, something which RJJ lacks severely.

They could learn better footwork. Beterbiev himself could learn how to move better. Kovalev has Jackson who has him moving beautifully in the ring.

I suppose so. I don't see what's so hard about footwork though and why RJJ is a master teacher of it.

I see that Pascal got rid of him as an adviser. Just because you have similar body types and coordination doesn't mean he is good for you. I suppose he can be a good little addition for almost finished products like Beterviev, but I wouldn't make him the main trainer. I especially wouldn't let him train up and comers.

I would agree with that, Roy may know the sport but like you said me might try making fighters like he was. These Russians just need that Apollo Creed lesson that he gave Rocky. Hopefully Roy puts trainers in these gyms that can teach that.

There's much to learn from the American school and the Russians are respectful enough to keep an open mind.

That's why so many of them now have American trainers.

Roy does actually know how to talk to young fighters and from what I have seen of him he doesn't expect them to fight like he did. He has a whole lot of knowledge about boxing as he has been around the sport his whole life and trained since he was a boy. That is a lot of knowledge he can impart, not all of it is useful to all fighters but I am sure there are things he can say that many fighters will be able to take something from.

I wouldn't want Roy to train anybody that thinks they are Roy Jones because that will lead to bad things since there is only 1 Roy Jones Jr., but different guys I think he could bring a lot to the table.

That's crazy. Just because he didn't use a conventional style does not mean Roy lacked fundamentals. He could teach any fighter a thing or two.
