This is how I've seen it for years as well, the HW division is in it's weakest era ever, but a monster like Tyson Fury, a complete fighter with heart, he dominates in any era. His opposition leaves much to be desired, but that isn't his fault.2015 is closing out with a new heavyweight king.
For the better part of the last ten years, brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko controlled the heavyweight division and had a firm grasp on the major titles.
A new age is coming. Vitali retired two years ago and last month Wladimir suffered defeat for the first time in over ten years, when Tyson Fury (25-0, 18KOs) stunned him with a twelve round unanimous decision to capture the WBO/IBO/IBF/WBA titles.

It is a weak division no doubt about it, there's potential there for it to improve in the future and is better than it was a few years ago.Comment

People have been complaining about the state of the HW division basically forever.
Marciano's era was pathetically weak -- he beat old men in mob fixes and a lot of bartenders.
Mike Tyson's biggest wins were over a shot Larry Holmes and a blown up light heavyweight in Michael Spinks.
Larry Holmes couldn't even stop a tomato can like Tex Cobb in FIFTEEN friggin' rounds, causing announcer Howard Cosell to stop talking and quit covering the sport.
And so on and so forth.
If you're a fan of the heavyweight division, you learn to ignore this stuff, because you like to see the biggest, strongest men in the sport fight, and don't care about watching two midgets hitting each other.
There will always be people yapping about the HW division. So what?Comment

But the point is you're not going to hear constant whining about other weak divisions like you do about the HW division.
The truth is the division is never as bad as the media wants people to believe -- much of the carping in the last decade came from the mainstream American boxing media, especially the old guys who still think there is such a thing as the Soviet Union in existence.
They hated the "Russians" ruling "their" division so they ripped it all the time.
There was some carping from the UK as well, but as they had and have a lot of good upcoming HWs, not as much as from the USA.
What's interesting is that America now *has* a HW champion, but nobody believes he can survive a contest with a top fighter (and actual Russian!) like Povetkin, so there is still a lot of moaning going on.
So tedious to listen to, really.Comment

Kessler was B level?Froch was champ of an average division. 1 potential ATG who kicked his arse with 1 hand. Kessler, Bute, Abraham are all b level. Calzaghe would have played with Froch. Eubank, Benn & Collins would have stopped Froch. Jones would have embarrassed Froch. Hopkins would have pavlikd Froch. Haggler would have beat Froch around the squared circle.
Froch was average, his appeal was he was grounded & hungry, now his heads up his own arse & he's content to eat his own ****e. **** Froch & fat EddieComment
