Comments Thread For: Roman Gonzalez Very Motivated To Capture Fourth Title

WBC flyweight champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (44-0, 38KOs) is very motivated to capture a fourth divisional title.

In 2015, Gonzalez finally made the move to the American market with two fights televised on HBO. He made his network debut in May with a two round destruction of former champion Edgar Sosa. He returned on October 17th to break down another former champion, Brian Viloria, in nine rounds.

I'd be more impressed if he was motivated to unify his division. Multiple division wins has lost it's shine.

Not if you beat the best in your division already. He's almost cleaned out the best at his current division. If he beats Estrada again and Ruenroeng then there should be no stopping him from moving up besides maybe a Donnie Nietes fight.

A washed up Sosa, Viloria, No hoper in Valentin and Yaegashi = almost cleaning out a division now? So if the Segura vs Gonzalez fight does go through, will he officially have "cleaned up" the division in your book? Also, why would Nietes be a reason to hold him back from moving up if he manages to get past both Amnat and Estrada? You do realize Nietes is one division below him and supposedly wants a few fights at 112 before deciding to fight Roman or not.

Regardless, Roman can pick up an easy belt from the other champions not named Naoya or Cuadras at 115. He shouldn't have too much trouble achieving his goal at super fly.

Yes he has, he beat Yaegashi and shredded Viloria.

If he beat Ruenroeng and Estrada again he CLEANS out the division. I won't say it again!

Doesn't matter if he fights Segura as his first fight back, he's likely to try and unify belts and rematch Estrada again which will tell who's the best at the division.

He said he would also like to fight Amnat as well and if he beats him then it definitely means he's cleaned out the division whether you like it or not.

What's next if he cleans out his division? You'll say he fought weak champs in Ruenroeng and Estrada? Then if he moves up and cleans that divisions best fighters you'll say they're no hopers and washed up or too green? Stfu

Learn boxing and watch to learn to appreciate greatness. Kid has proven in the lower weights he's the real deal, stopping Viloria definitely wasn't supposed to happen regardless of what you say.

If hes lost you'll say he was garbage, I don't wanna hear crap, I want to hear knowledge and so far I haven't learned anything from what you're saying.

Stopping Viloria wasn't supposed to happen? Really? I saw it coming months back, in fact I called the stoppage in the later rounds as well. Learn boxing? All I do is watch the lower weights, I know and recognize his talent and the fact that you're okay with him fighting the most meaningless fight against Segura next year is rather alarming. Matter of fact, you claiming that he's pretty much "cleaned out" the division with his recent run at 112 is an even bigger flag.

I have nothing to teach you, so don't look my way for knowledgeable posts a close minded fool who's more than willing to accept his idol fighting a worthless Segura at this stage in his career says it all about his fandom.

If he moves up to 115 I can see him acquiring his 4th belt, however I can also see Cuadras or Naoya possibly upsetting him. I also don't see him being too successful past 115. He might luck out and win a belt at 118 but I have a feeling that his stay at 118 or moving up past bantam will also bring some hardships in his career.
