For those who didn't read the article he also says Golovkin is a great fighter.

And Golovkin is overhyped at the moment. There's no question. The sheer quantity of Golovkin related content and coverage is insane. On NSB alone there tends to be 5-6 Golovkin threads on the first page at any given time.

He's obviously very good, but relative to other good fighters in the sport the amount of coverage he gets (from fans and media) is off the charts.

You are surely hyping the extent of Golokins hype

I'm on record as saying the same. He is over-hyped but he is also very good.

The hype is due to the 21 KOs in a row against prospects and contenders - top 25 fighters. Nobody else is doing that - so in that aspect alone he is exceptional.

Krusher has a high KO percentage but not the same KO streak so less hype.

            A couple of other things.

1/ MW is a storied division so that plays a small part
2/ a bigger part is played by Golovkin's look - he has a smiling baby face and endearing disposition outside of the ring that highlights the trail of destruction inside the ring
3/ At the beginning of his career being from Kazakhstan was a hindrance to his career but now it sets him apart - it's like "who is this blaze of destruction from another planet?"

there you have it....the MW title is NOW called the "Nelo Weight" title....so if Lil G wants the NW strap he'll have to make 155...the A side has spoken...it may not be right or fair but it is what it is

I would feel some type of way if it was ANY other MW...but being as though Lil G wanted to drain Ward but not drain Froch or Jr and then use A side and B side bs as the reason...I have NO SYMPATHY!!!...NONE whatsoever...how do you spell karma?!?... C A N E L O

                  • Why? Because it's not a voluntary defense it's a mandatory.
                  • Why? Because he is MW champion defending his title
                  • Why? So he doesn't look like a ***** in the eyes of his fans
                  • Why? So his reputation for being fearless doesn't take a hit
                  • Why? Because if this trend continues of champions taking mandatories at
CWs then boxing will be in an even bigger mess than it already is.

Team Golovkin should just have kept WBC to their word instead of tolerating this BS. If he has all the titles then everything has to go through him anyway at MW. Let Canelo fight the drained Geales of this world indefinitely and let's see how his PPV status holds up after a few fights like that.

From what I see, there is an average of 5 anti-GGG threads as against 1 pro-GGG thread at any given time... Where is the overhype here?
