Comments Thread For: Imam, King Gunning For Granados Rematch in Early 2016

Last month, junior welterweight contender Amir Imam (18-1, 15KOs) was within touching distance of a world title shot.

Imam was the mandatory challenger to WBC champion Viktor Postol. The World Boxing Council issued an ordered which allowed Postol to have a voluntary defense before making his mandatory with Imam.

Start by getting a trainer, like Ronnie Shields, or someone on that level. Stacey McKinley is garbage, he had zero answers for the kid in the corner.

If he improves his movement & elusiveness I think he can reverse this. It seemed like he had some thought that he was just gonna plow thru Granados the first time & had no plan B from there. He seemed on course to doing that at first so there shouldn't be any reason he can't finish that the 2nd time with superior knowledge of what went wrong the 1st time & preparation.

He's a talented mfer. For sure needs to work on his defense. It makes for fun fights, but you can't be getting dropped every other fight.

That's a big risk... Two losses to Granados will really set your career back. On the flip side a victory gets you right back to where you were before.

Imam needs a some more fights though to sharpen up his skills. He got beaten down on the inside. Needs to improve that area of his game or learn to use feet better and stay on the outside.

Start by doing something totally foreign - learn to block a punch with something other than your chin! Yeah, and head movement, high guard.
