Well we all know that was due to the "TBE ducking doe" nonsense.

Oh dear. I can't remember the last time Shane looked good... 2009 against Margarito probably. That'a a full 6 years ago and he's looked shot ever since. He needs to find a woman who's not after his money and just retire.

Hopkins because of his style which never relied on blazing speed or power was able to adapt as age robbed other great fighters of those traits. He gets by with his brains using defense and timely clutches which forces fighters to fight at a slow pace he likes. Mosley is a totally different style of fighter who dominated early his career because of freakish speed, reflexes and power. Some of which may of been aided by steroids. Now off the juice and with age taking away his speed and reflexes he gets hit far more then Hopkins does. And you already see the effects Molsey slurs his words and takes 10 seconds to get some of the words out. Hopkins shows little signs of any abuse in the ring and talks basically the same as he did a decade ago.

Hopkins also has no bad habbits outside the ring. He's legendary for staying at fighting weight all year long, doesn't drink or smoke, diets when he doesn't have to. Lives basically like a monk. Hopkins is a once in a generation freak. When he's gone for good you may never see longevity like he's had in any sport ever again.

This goes true for any sport. If you build your style around your natural athleticism you will not have a long career.

I hope he stops....it is tough to remember from 2000-02, until Vernon, what he was.

Bernard was - and is - skilled (I still hope he retires too, now) , Shane was an athlete....there is a difference.

I don't know that much about his marital problems....

Why cant boxers get jobs like the rest of us? Christ, I have 5 years of college and now Im driving a truck. I can deal with it...(actually love it, wish Id done it years ago)

Google Howard Clarke, British, dementia for something that will really bum you out...

Actually, don't, here it is... http://www.*************.com/showthread.php?t=178828

Seems a lot of people can't accept aging anymore, growing old and finding different things in life. I know there has always been fighters hanging on to long but no it seems to become more frequent. If old guys are gonna keep fighting at least be realistic.. Jones saying he wants to become world champion, Mosley saying people on the street believe that he is 25 years old... come on age with dignity like Bernard or other old school fighters.

I'm keen to see what Shane can do when he is injury free at 147, let's face it he's not elite but if he is matched well he could still be competitive. Key phrase was 'I love to fight' so let the man, I support Shane. He's not Roy yet.
