Let me guess what happens - Alvarez fights in May 2016 and then Cotto says lets do a rematch, at which time Alvarez vacates the WBC 160lbs title. And Alvarez & Cotto say "FU Golovkin"!

Cotto got backed up by hard, clean shots, so yeah Freddie, it does score points.

Cotto knows he lost that fight which is why he does not want a rematch. I overestimated Cotto's ability. Even in his prime I believe Canelo may have been too much for him, and I wanted Cotto to win.

and hows that? Nothing they can do will prevent Canelo from doing whatever he wants.

The only scenario GGG could have affected is whether or not Canelo has the WBC belt for his May 7 fight. And whether he does or doesnt, it wont impact what Canelo is going to do in Sept.

GGGs best chance to get the fight was to make this deal. Had he forced Canelos hand now, Canelo vacates and the fight is dead. At least now its still 50-50 that it happens......

Cotto did box beautifully, but Canelo's power swayed the judges again. I thought Lara did a better job than Cotto, because Canelo could not land flush head shots on Lara. Cotto tried to stay in the pocket too long, and that was not a successful strategy. My solution for Cotto is obvious...fight Lara @ 154 for his title!
