Who knows, maybe chavez jr was the first of three GGG warm up fights at 168. Or is Ward fighting Kovalev? No, he will do after three tune ups. So why expect GGG to go to 168 directly for Ward? Who was the hypocrate?

Chavez wasn't the first of 3 warmup fights though.

It was supposed to be a one fight deal, then back to 160.

So why not try the best 168 in the world who was as ripe for the picking as he ever will be.

Coming off the layoff was the perfect time for golovkin to catch ward.

Ward was being sarcastic when he stated he'd fight Mayweather. The comment was in response to Mayweather getting upset at him for supporting the Ghost (friend) during the lead up to their fight.

Regardless, GGG is experiencing what every star before him has. The excessive praise and undeserved hate is almost like a welcoming party to the boxing community....much better than being irrelevant!

BTW, I'd argue that Kovalev is the most feared person in boxing.
