Isn't Roy's Commentator Salary Enough To Retire From Boxing

They must be paying an upper middle class wage so why continue boxing especially when he's getting ****ed up at this stage.

SRL was able so financially sustain himself as a retired boxer by commentating

its called getting it while the getting is good.

Theirs money still on the table for him so hes grabbing it while he still can.

Cant hate em for that, and his salary from HBO I am sure is more than enough to live a comfortable life on. Lets speculate how much you think a year hes pulling from that? 250-500k a year?

If a man wants to box let him box. It's not bothering HBO, and HBO likes Roy.

My guess is that it probably has more to do with how much debt he is in. I'm sure his salary is pretty good.

He is in denial. He still loves the sport. It's gotta be more than just the money. I'm not aware of any financial problems. He had to have made well over 100 million over his career. I'm pretty sure he made a lot for the Calzaghe and Trinidad fights even after his career was shot.

It certainly is for most people. But some guys can't hold on to a dollar. James Toney made good money but he was always in need of another money fight. Unless Jones is spending money like a Mayweather I think he could easily live very well on his salary from HBO. I think HBO pays him a good salary but I don't know that for a fact.

is roy very loose with his money?

i never thought despite roy's arrogant personality he was like floyd and iron mike with his money.

the only vice i thought roy had was c*ckfighting.

No doubt Jones should quit. He is a shell of his once great self in the ring. He is still sharp mentally but sometimes damage from head blows has a bad effect many years later. It basically killed Floyd Patterson.

His decision to carry on may not be financial.
